I just love four hour long commutes.  I had to stop and take a pee break at a Kroger along the way.

We had freezing rain followed by another 2 inches of powder.

The thing is: we only got like a half inch of snow.  However, was there any salting/brining/plowing done by the time the morning commute began?

NEIN.

Why the fuck does  ahalf inch of snow need salting or plowing?

I don't think they even bring out the sanding trucks for that little snow.

All I can tell you is that the roads were a solid sheet of ice, dude.  At one point I was on a frozen overpass and it was impossible to go more than like half a mile an hour without fishtailing.

Maybe the roads in the Yukon are all gravel so you still get traction or whatever.

No.  If it turned to ice that is trecherous.

The temps here are cold enough that snow stays as snow, and it's no big deal.

But there are a lot of gravel highways. :Canuck:

We had some snow - big chunky snowflakes. It made me happy, but then it turned to rain. :(

Right, I need a Languish advise.

Today for various reason, my oldest son and I am supposed to drive south to the inlaws, way out in the countryside. We can leave no earlier than 22.

However, they have announced a snow storm right in the area I'm going through, it has started snowing and is suposed to peak right around the time we leave.

I *can* stay home but it will be a hassle regarding the weekend at the inlaws, and because we have lend our house to some friends who expect us out of here.

Now, should I try and brave the storm btw 22-00 with my son of 10 or stay home. I DO have winter tires on, but the car is old. I am experiences in winterdriving so I do not fear the slippery roads, more getting stuck in a snow drift.

The forecast itself say 15 cm of snow, -10 degrees C and 15+ meters per sec of wind.
