Quote from: Grey Fox on September 09, 2025, 11:26:12 AMHamas leaders, especially those outside of Gaza, don't deserve mercy.

The issue here is less hitting Hamas HQ - if only Israel could stick to hitting Hamas in Gaza there'd be far less of an issue - but launching an attack on a neutral (even "neutral") 3rd country. That's pretty messed up.
That's the risk "neutral" countries take on when harboring terrorists.  It wasn't that controversial of a concept in 2001.

The US asked Qatar to host Hamas back in 2011. Until 2023 Israel supported this too.

Of course Hamas were fine with this because Qatar already had huge leanings in their direction. But let's not pretend this is equivalent to Al Quaida in Afghanistan.
It's like if Russia decided to bomb Sweden- quite a step up from their attacks in the UK and Spain.

Or if the UK bombed Libya.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

100% does not apply here.  It has been well understood and accepted that Qatar maintains a diplomatic office so that it's possible to have negotiations with Hamas. Israeli officials have often travelled to Qatar for exactly that purpose; the head of Mossad just went there last month.  This is not a rogue nation harboring terrorist bases; this is a neutral Arab country that agreed to host a diplomatic office as an accomodation so that other countries, including Israel, can communicate with Hamas.
We have, accordingly, always had plenty of excellent lawyers, though we often had to do without even tolerable administrators, and seen destined to endure the inconvenience of hereafter doing without any constructive statesmen at all.

And Israel still does, when it's convenient to them.

I should be remembered on the two previous days Netanyahu had a civilian vessel in a third country harbour attacked with drones.

Maybe him and Putin are in a race to some dreadful bottom of egomania?

A bunch of people on the right are now claiming that Israel had Charlie Kirk assassinated.  Really big on the conspiracy sites.  This might be the big break you guys have been waiting for.

How would that be a big break?

Turn the tide of right-wing support for Israel.

And then what? The IDF will magically leave Gaza?

I suggest you spend less time reading conspiracy theories on who killed Kirk.

You guys get your wish, the US stops sending weapons to Israel.  End investments.  Sanctions.  BDS.  Gaza is saved!  And you'll have the American far-right to thank!

I don't really care who takes credit if it means fewer dead kids.

I don't know who "you guys" are in your warped scenario. My wish was for the IDF to not starve kids, and to use more care in going after Hamas. Not sure what BDS, US support or far right dudes getting shot have to do with any of that.

Oh, there will be dead kids...
