Problem with a zoomed map is it reveals all, army placements and whatnot. I'd post one, but then Berkut would learn about The Pain(TM). He should find out about The Pain(TM) in a way I see fit. :menace:

Ulmont, now would be a good time to scoop up the Eastern mountain regions of Berkundia.

ulmont would not do something like that, since he is a reasonable and sensible neighbor insterested in reasonable division of resources of peaceful cooperation.

Unlike some others I could mention.

And this is the first war occuring? These open games are too wild west it seems. Well, no surprise there.

If anyone has more time or wants to put his case of casus beli forward the zoomed in map would be awesome :)

Yeah, this is the first real war.  I came to a border delineation agreement with Ehrie early on, but the map is very spread out, allowing the players ample time to establish themselves before any serious brawls developed.

The war, as usual, is over resources--every player's starting location had 1 ore and 1 clay spot adjacent to their citadel.  The only other ore/clay resources are smack in the middle of the map, creating quite the incentive to race there, establish yourself and fend off the others.
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

Who fired the first shot is not really relevant - who sent their troops into the others area in a very un-neighborly land grab even when they had plenty of room to expand elsewhere is the point.

You started this war, mores the pity.

Others area? I mean sure there were some ugly women in the border regions, no doubt ethnic Bergundians, however the border areas are clearly meant to be my holdings. Not my fault you went running around the beach in the cold frosty north in the beginning of the game.

Tonitrus

Those central mountains only matter to those who greedily seek the means to inflate their war machine.  The Tonitrian Commonwealth only made such a move in that direction (and a bit late, at that), in order to ensure it's security against potentially aggressive neighbors.

A copy of a diplomatic message from Tonitrian military attaches in the combat zone, regarding the two warring factons, has been leaked to the media.  There will be a formal inquiry in to the leak, however, the Tonitrian Commonwealth believes strongly in a free press.

WAR! The Peaceful nation of The Western Republic of the Holy Ehrie has been attacked by the cowards of the Federated Lands of Inner Berkundia. A State of WAR now exists. I hereby ask that the Languish Pact of Steel be activated and my glorious allies come to my aid.

The Dominion of Ulmont sends their condolences, and regrets that the peaceful ties that exist with the Western Republic of the Holy Ehrie are only equalled by the peaceful ties that exist with the Federated Lands of Inner Berkundia.

We will of course send observers to verify that the formalities of war are being observed by both parties.

Berkut

It is unfortunate that my allied have elected to passively allow this aggression from Ehriestan to go unchecked.

Two attacks were launched last turn by the warmongers, both were defeated with heavy casualties on both sides.

On the steps of Mount Languish I was simply returning the catapult stones that were launched at Fort Jaron last turn. :P

Grey Fox

I think if someone accepts the trade, it disappears for the others (but the message stays).

ulmont

So, let's see...Habs the trading and Tonitrus the Whatever are both well on their way to a victory through gold, huh?  Next game we might want to increase the amount of gold needed.

ehrie

Well, it's not just raw gold on hand, I think you have to made a sizable amount more gold than anybody else to achieve that kind of victory.
