Sad way to end. :(

It was the kind of place that commissioned huge hand painted posters for the entrance when a big movie opened, so the Tomb Raider one stayed there after the place closed, to the point that it got all mouldy and crap.

The last movie I watched there was Gladiator, which was a more fitting goodbye.  :P

The largest and grandest cinema in Barcelona closed down 5 years ago with Fast & Furious 6. I guess it could have been worse.

:yuk:

I guess I can't complain anymore that Le Grand Rex still shows dubbed versions, outside of events such as movie nights : Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones, B-movie nights etc.

The fancy old cinema in my city, build in the 1940s, closed down in 2001, the last film it showed was Tomb Raider.

Seems quite a fitting way to end actually. Home entertainment killed the cinema, and in Tomb Raider you've a film that is an adaptation of the latest home entertainment

That's my area. It's a valid protest. Open cast mining is a very different thing to regular mining.

So coal mines are the best thing ever, but only certain kind of coal mines? You lot are sure hard to please.

Yeah, the first one's really dangerous. Duh!

I appreciated it Tamas :)

And one is uglier than the other and thus inspires more NIMBY stuff but they are both terrible.

It's not just ugly. It also lacks the same positive jobs impact and is considerably worse for the environment.
They actually wanted to do it in a field near my place and have trucks going past at all hours of the day. That one was stopped.
Big difference between being opposed to closing mines on which dozens of communities depend in the 1980s and not liking the idea of a bunch of outsiders coming in, and stripping the land bare to no positive gain for the people nearby. And in 2018 at that.
Just look at how succesful wealthy areas are at stopping railway lines that will benefit the whole country vs out of sight out of mind villages like these being completely scarred.

Well all coal mines need railway lines. Unless they plan on moving the coal around on trucks...which would be ridiculously inefficient.
