I keep watching Lucifer and keep wondering why.  It isn't terrible, but it... seems uninspired a lot.  Guilty pleasure seems an apt description of it.  I love the premise, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired.  Lucifer seems like a rather inept and whiny character, which is a shame.  Those aspects of his personality seem to grow with each season as well.  The actor is great though and the piano cuts are fantastic.  In fact, the majority of the acting is on point for the characters and, as mentioned, the fact that there is a child character who doesn't suck is a minor miracle.  Finally, would someone please tell the makeup department to change the Chloe character's eye shadow/eye makeup so she doesn't look like a strung out drug abuser?
"Everything that brought you here -- all the things that made you a prisoner of past sins -- they are gone. Forever and for good. So let the past go... and live."

"Somebody, after all, had to make a start. What we wrote and said is also believed by many others. They just don't dare express themselves as we did."

Just watched ep 6 and indeed the "Sinner Man" cover is terrific.

Yep, its pretty nice silly fun.
Sort of gives me 'Angel' vibes, which is a good thing.

Has anyone seen Jeannette, the Childhood of Joan of Arc (Jeannette, l'enfance de Jeanne d'Arc)?  It's gotten mixed reviews.  The premise (heavy metal rock opera about Joan of Arc's spiritual awakening done with non-professional child actors) makes it sound like it's either going to be either brilliant or excruciating.  Naturally I plan on seeing it.  Nowhere around here is going to show anything like that, so I'm going to have to wait for Netflix to come through, but I'm wondering what to expect.
In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

That doesn't sound like it's going to be brilliant...
To sleep, perchance to dream. But in that sleep of death, what dreams may come?

Nice to see the spirit of Ken Russell lives on.
"We have it in our power to begin the world over again"

The Brain

Confessions of a Brazilian Call Girl. Young middle class woman runs away from home to become a prostitute, a life which has its ups and downs. Pretty much what you'd expect of a (non-porn) movie with that title. Note: there is a lesbian kiss.
Women want me. Men want to be with me.

The Brain

Within. Dad, teenage daughter, and dad's wife move into a new house. But something seems to be wrong... Very meh, but the chicks are hot.
Women want me. Men want to be with me.

Missed it last year. Now I am interested.

The Brain

Newness. Man and woman meet through Tinder and become a couple. When ennui sets in they decide to add som spice to the proceedings. I liked it, I thought it was a nice movie about relationships.

Admiral Yi

Pretty good episode of Silicon.  I particularly like Fiona's read of Richard's emotional state.

But the story arc definitely feels like it's in retread mode.  If I were the writers I would introduce a love interest for Richard.

And for the love of God give Monica some more camera time.

'Blade Runner 2049' - I liked it.

Since it's a holiday over here until Wednesday and I have nothing to do, I binged Lucifer season 1. Just starting season 2 and yeah, Tricia Helfer is actually quite funny in it. Still smokin' too.

Was watching a bit of Swingers last night.  Then the multiple phone message scene came on and I had to change the channel because it makes me cringe so much.  Sort of the pathetic version of the Exorcist.

Man, I haven't seen that movie for 20 years.  How well does it hold up?
