Bases like Pituffik are the kind where you typically just do a 1-year "short/remote" tour with the hope of getting preference for an ideal follow-on assignment.  And also to pad you "I did cool things" resume.  And for an officer, a "command" position is also a desirable/necessary step to go for a star(general).

Something like this, if she even stays in, means she is probably mostly shut off from further promotion.

But hey, a retired O-6 pension is not bad living.

Can't comment on the veracity of the claims or the quality of the site, but they claim Carney masterminded the bond sale by canada, Japan, and the EU that spooked Trump. Or, in my opinion, trumps handlers since I doubt Trump knows shit about the market.

It's a false claim, Canada still holds lots of US bonds. They'll release it when it hurt the most.  We only have 1% of the US debt, afaik.

The most likely culprit is China started selling and everyone followed worldwide.

I don't put a whole lot of stock in an article that claims that Carney went back in time and increased Canada's holdings of US T-bonds through early 2025 and then coordinated some "silent pact" to sell those bonds now.

The sell-off of US bonds can be explained adequately by the operations of the bond market.  There's no need to invent a conspiracy.

Yes sounds like conspiracy theory.  Sell off of US treasuries is indicative of the deep reservations and uncertainty.

I believe the time of foreign us currency reserve is over but what the consequence of that is, who knows.

The story came from a sports journalist/commentator on his blog.

What Carney did was talk to Japan to coordinate a response and work together to stabilize the markets.

It's more Dean Blundell totally fangirling over Carney than a conspiracy theory.

The Minsky Moment

Trump told a half truth - he is doing deals and people are coming begging for relief.  Unfortunately, those people are American lobby groups, not foreign countries.

Not surprised, but a bit sad. Less contact means less shared understanding.
