This is a bit of a digression, but when did the Irish get the vote?

Universal manhood suffrage was only passed in 1918.  For women 10 years after that.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Yeah but that had to do with property requirements and applied to all men, not just the Irish. The Home Rule League managed to win all the Constituencies outside of Northern Ireland during its run.

Well that certainly puts a different spin on the Easter Uprising.  I had always just assumed the Micks were apartheided.

No,  I was only referring to post 1923 events, I assumed you were talking about the Irish voting in UK parliamentary elections because the original wiki item I posted included that phenomenon.

He was asking about the 1885 thing. He thought the Irish had no representation or rights in the UK.

Yeah, Yi just fundamentally misunderstood the home rule movement.

Richard Hakluyt

The Irish sent a block of about 80 or 90 Home Rule MPs to Westminster in those days. But Westminster was still dominated by English MPs due to England's share of the total population. This demographic dominance has been detrimental to setting up a system fair to the various component countries. England has about 80% of the archipelago's population.

Didn't Home Rule play a part in the Fyre debacle?

I think there is one major flaw in May's proposal of three votes above. I fully expect the HoC to reject all three: against her deal, against no deal and against extension. It would not be the first time that they just reject all available realistic possibilities and pretend there is a fictional better option.

Yeah, this. They should have one vote with only those three options.

Same problem - what if none of them get a majority?

Second round vote between the two best scoring options, immediately after the first one.

It's been almost 3 fucking years - how can you not figure any of this shit out?

The Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs last week told business leaders that the UK would not have enough EU-approved pallets for exporting to the continent if it leaves without a withdrawal agreement next month.
