How many "meaningful votes" have there been already? What's a "meaningful vote" anyway?

A "meaningful vote" could be a new referendum! Why not?

I'll sign up for that.  :bowler:

The people has spoken!  :P

:hmm:

Probably nearly a million of those leave voters are now dead, so less so now.  ;)

True though.
Just by demographic change assuming all else remains the same and no leavers are seeking to remedy their error, a magic rerun would be a victory for humanity.

So there was a small bomb scare in London yesterday with explosive devices addressed from Ireland appearing near railway station and airports. Oddly though, the press covered it only briefly at the time (yesterday morning) or so I've heard, and then only a brief blurb as part of reporting on evening news. Seems odd that it got so tiny coverage domestically.

The Belfast car-bombing some weeks ago also only got a brief mention which I also found weird.

Only thing that occurred is gov't not wanting people to panic that it is all starting up again, but I can't see why the news outlets would go along with that.

I am slowly getting to the end of the Churchill biography saga of 4 volumes (The Last Lion). It was mentioned there that when the fresh king Whatshisname was going out with -gasp- an American divorcee , it was a well known fact in America far sooner than Britain, and it didn't break there until some Lord mentioned it accidently in the House or something. This was because, allegedly, the whole press "kept loyal" and hush-hushed the whole thing.

That really turned my paranoid mode on and I started to wonder if such colleaguical cooperation and understanding is still part of the press.

Now up as headline news.

QuoteGroup calling itself IRA claims it sent parcel bombs to UK addresses

A group calling itself the IRA has claimed it sent explosive devices to three London transport hubs and the University of Glasgow last week as well as another, which has yet to be found.

Police Scotland and the Metropolitan police said in a joint statement that the claim was received on Monday by a media organisation in Northern Ireland using a recognised codeword.

They said: "Those claiming responsibility have indicated five devices were sent. At this time, only four devices have been recovered.

"Extensive advice has already been issued to relevant businesses and sectors to be vigilant for and report suspicious packages to police. This advice was previously sent to armed forces personnel and is being reiterated again in light of this claim.

Brilliant.

Also for those not paying attention, last night May and Juncker -as a Hungarian site put it- wrapped a bow around the heap of trash, so the British MPs would get sufficient excuse to vote on May's deal tonight.

But the attorney general just declared the obvious that the concern of ending up stuck in the backstop remains unchanged.

Now I am thinking we are heading to no Brexit, eventually. Tonight May's deal gets defeated, tomorrow no deal gets defeated. Let's assume that TOTAL insanity will not overtake the Commons and the extension-request will be agreed to. May will ask for th extension, the EU will only offer one until 2021. May accepts and resigns. Early elections are up next with a similar setup as now. Sometime in 2020 they call a second referendum on which Remain will win.

Too many politicians see an opportunity in no deal chaos for them to vote for May's deal, be that career opportunity, the tory leadership or a general election if you're a Corbynite.

The ship of state is floundering, no one told the attorney general  how to use the bucket, so he's bailing in rather than out.  :bowler:

And by a lot.

QuoteMPs reject May's Brexit deal for second time by majority of 149
Theresa May's deal has been defeated again by 391 votes to 242 - a majority of 149

I mean, sure, only losing by 149 is a sizeable improvement from losing by 230, but it isn't really that helpful.

Tomorrow. Another no, I'm sure.
