I usually find Jos quite easy to understand and sympathize to an extent with some of his characteristic attitudes... but, I'm sorry, this security camera thing is somewhere between  and :lmfao:

First, just as practical matter, a security camera is only good after the fact, you know?  It's not exactly a deterrent and not the top defense weapon against a home invasion robbery.  So any burglary would already have taken place before you could get the footage from your camera.  At best it would help the police locate the perpetrator down the line.

Second, what exactly do you own that you are so terrified of having stolen from you in a burglary?  Has Switzerland so infected you that you are hoarding gold bars or something?  We all have things of sentimental value, and I get replacing a computer or TV or something sucks, but it's not like it would ruin you.  Even if the camera footage enabled the police to do the unlikely and collar this burglar within a day or two, it's highly likely that all your stuff would be gone and nearly impossible to recover.

I've lived in flimsy ground-floor apartments in high-crime neighborhoods and I'd suggest your money would be better spent on a small safe if you think you need to, in which you could keep your passport, keepsakes, yen, gold bars, etc.

1: yes. That's the main point. Gives a  photo of the dick who robbed me.
It also sends a message when it detects motion, so there is a (small) chance I could notice this in time to call the police.
2: value isn't a problem. But as you say sentimental value. Also inconvenience . I don't have everything on my computers backed up and some things that I own were presents and have been with me for a while.
3: since I can't bolt it down anywhere they would just steal the safe.
And the camera cost 50 euros and could also be used as a Web cam if I wanted. Hardly a big investment

It's final! The Femern (Fehmarn) connection is happening.

First expected completion date was 2018, final expected completion date is set to be 2028, actual completion date probably 2030-something.

Cost? Astronomical, actual cost? Even astronomicallier.

They're just going to steal your camera as well anyways.

How can you be so sure they will be Mexican?  :P

Aren't Mexicans more fond of sunglasses, though?

Well, it's only final final if Germany also approves it.

Did anything noteworthy happen in Spain today?  My Spickfund had a significant uptick (from a deep hole).

Socialists still can't get their shit together to form a government.   Apparently the Spanish government intercepted containers full of 20,000+ uniforms and other assort camo gear destined for ISIS via water.
