Hey, that stuff happened before you started posting here! Are you one of his sockpuppets?
To sleep, perchance to dream. But in that sleep of death, what dreams may come?

The car that hit me was apparently trying to get away after hitting someone else. They are trying to get video tape as a nearby intersection has cameras.

The first lady the car hit got the make and model of the car, and some detailed descriptions. I got the license plate number and vague descriptions. The police ran the tags, and it is a make and model of the car that match the first lady's description, as well as mine.

But here is the kicker: the officer said that because it was an out of state car, and no one was injured, he doubted it would be pursued. But it might be!

America.  :(

I'm embarrassed. I've been making the mistake of associating with you. It won't happen again. :)

An assault rifle...
2: not much good without ammunition  (an interesting point I often see American gun fans either ignore or have no idea about when the subject comes up)

  You can buy your own ammo in Switzerland.

Not really.
I'm pretty sure there is a way to get a license for it in exceptional circumstances but it is generally rather tightly controlled.  Counted out and back in at shooting clubs and military training

You're probably thinking of the government subsidized ammo that reservists can buy.  Commercial ammo is pretty much unrestricted.

Not what I've heard.
And it wouldn't really make sense since shooting here tends to be sport shooting not hunting.
I'll ask a swiss guy when I get the chance. The impression I've got from them in the past is that things are in line with what is widely reported and that people who want ammo usually nick it from the army.

Okay, then.

QuoteAnd it wouldn't really make sense since shooting here tends to be sport shooting not hunting.

I don't understand why that would support your theory.  And the Swiss do hunt btw.

"Nick it from the army"?  Seems pretty risky to steal ammo from the Army.  Most tend to frown upon it.

Anyway, let me know what you find out.  Or you can check this out in the meantime:

Wut? Plugging and switching security cameras?
I don't want to leave it on when I'm home or it will be emailing me non-stop with naked pictures of myself.
Without a switch on the plug or the camera itself, it has to be unplugged.

But where is that security camera installed? Inside your own appartment? What's the point of that?
To see people coming through the door or entering the living room.

Sorry mate but I think that's a really pointless thing to have.

Maybe he lives in a particularly high-crime area of Switzerland?  :hmm:
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

One where his appartment gets broken into often enough to warrant getting a security camera to check who is getting into it? Allow me to disagree.  :P

I usually find Jos quite easy to understand and sympathize to an extent with some of his characteristic attitudes... but, I'm sorry, this security camera thing is somewhere between  and :lmfao:

First, just as practical matter, a security camera is only good after the fact, you know?  It's not exactly a deterrent and not the top defense weapon against a home invasion robbery.  So any burglary would already have taken place before you could get the footage from your camera.  At best it would help the police locate the perpetrator down the line.

Second, what exactly do you own that you are so terrified of having stolen from you in a burglary?  Has Switzerland so infected you that you are hoarding gold bars or something?  We all have things of sentimental value, and I get replacing a computer or TV or something sucks, but it's not like it would ruin you.  Even if the camera footage enabled the police to do the unlikely and collar this burglar within a day or two, it's highly likely that all your stuff would be gone and nearly impossible to recover.

I've lived in flimsy ground-floor apartments in high-crime neighborhoods and I'd suggest your money would be better spent on a small safe if you think you need to, in which you could keep your passport, keepsakes, yen, gold bars, etc.

They're just going to steal your camera as well anyways.
