I mean I probably would if I was in as shitty a situation as Hungary was by that point. I mean most of those areas was already in control by those countries by the time the treaty was signed.

How did Austria manage to get in on it?

It was an area with a large German majority:

Sopron later joined Hungary again after a plebiscite. These days it's where a lot of Austrians go to have their teeth fixed - premium treatment options are notably cheaper in HU than in AT. A quick search suggests there's 46 dentists/dental clinic in a town of 62,000.

What's worth noting about the ethnicity map of course is that the new borders cut significantly into the core Hungarian areas. That gave a 100-years long weight to considering the peace an injustice.

Valmy

It was pretty savage a peace but Hungary was completely fucked. First by being one of the rulers of the Empire that was being carved up by the successor states but then by being taken over by Communists at the worst possible time.

But it was not like Austria came out much better, plenty of German speaking regions were lost.

This cracks me up every time. The owl showing up casually with this big stick, and the others completely awed by it. :D

Fun fact I learned today.
The term nazi was originally a slur that arose out of the national socialists having an unfortunate acronym. Much like Daesh.
Nazi was a previously existing insult in German for an ignorant hick from Bavaria due to it being an established nickname for "Ignacius", a very common name in Bavaria.
This matched perfectly with who the nazis were.

I don't think they were ignorant hicks, they were just masters at trolling.

The Larch

So, in Moscow a new orthodox cathedral is being built, to be dedicated to the Russian Armed Forces. Apparently as part of their mossaics there are representations of Putin and other Russian political figures, depictions of Stalin in the context of the celebration for the victory in WWII, and about the annexation of Crimea.

I feel obliged to include this gif in the post. :p

Nobody is going to mistake them for works of Andrei Rublev, that's for sure.

So... Drilling holes in the ceiling to run an ethernet cable to my office / gaming room. Anyone else done this? Or am I just mad?

Hope the bloody cable works at the end of it.
