Looks like Mr. P got jealous of Carneys speech and tried one of his own.

Still some required kowtowing though. Wonder how it'll play with his Maple MAGA backers.
Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".
Hubris must be punished. Severely.

Independence minded Alberta has a 9.4 billion deficit. At this rate they're going to see the positives of equalization payments.

Danielle smith also blamed immigration (Trudeau open border policies) for the deficit.

Alberta just doesn't make sense to me anymore and I'm getting increasingly concerned they're going to be the rupture in Canada like maga was in America.

People used to forecast a world where North America ruptured into regional countries.  It doesn't seem as improbable to me now that it did back then... Oceania loading?

Shattered Union :nerd:

The most unrealistic part of that game is the EU actually doing something. :P

I can't say that your post is totally wrong.  :P
Peace keeping in the North-East US centered around Washington D.C.  :hmm:

BC is making the sensible choice and moving permanently to Summer time this weekend.
Getting ready to make IEDs against American Occupation Forces.

"But I didn't vote for him"; they cried.

Excellent news! :showoff:

Baron von Schtinkenbutt

Would that make BC the first locality in the world to go permanently to DST?

crazy canuck

Saskatchewan has been doing it since, I think, it became a province.

There is some absurd number in favour of this move, something like 93%. So it's a bit of a surprise it took BC politicians this long, but thankfully this will be the last time we have to adjust our clocks.  I just wish we could've made the move permanent after gaining an hour rather than losing an hour.

In several surveys, the overwhelming first choice for what makes Canada unique is multiculturalism. This, in a world collapsing into stupid, impoverishing hatreds, is the distinctly Canadian national project.

It's not all of B.C.
Most of B.C. to adopt daylight saving time permanently, Eby says

As usual, there are people totally against it:
QuoteSome business groups denounced the move, however, saying that the Eby government surprised them with the change.
"The unilateral change in time is an unwelcome distraction that will make it more difficult to attract and retain businesses in British Columbia," said Bridgitte Anderson, president and chief executive of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade.

The Canadian Federation of Independent Business warned the change will be disruptive.

"Today's announcement will be a surprise to small businesses and comes after a rushed and limited consultation process. While some may be relieved not to change the clocks each year, the lack of coordination with other jurisdictions risks causing confusion and disruption," said Ryan Mitton, CFIB's director of legislative affairs for B.C. "This appears motivated by an attempt to distract from the province's $13-billion deficit, not genuine concern for the impacts of the time change."
I'm glad BC didn't listen to them and moved forward.

Well it'll be a lot better once the rest of the west coast (hopefully follows suit).  It does mean a lot of things get moved later like NhL away games to 8:30.

I looked into this a bit more, and it turns out the legislation in BC was passed in 2019. We've been waiting for the American states on the West Coast to implement their change so that it all could be done in a coordinated way. But times change and trade with the United States is no longer the prime directive and so we're just doing it. Besides, who knows how long it's going to be before the Americans have a functional government again.

I seem to recall the whole west coast was going to do it but Covid derailed it.
