BC is making the sensible choice and moving permanently to Summer time this weekend.

Moving permanently to Summer time would be a mistake here since it's 2 hours ahead (CET = GMT / UTC +2) of the pre-1940 time. Now permanent Winter time would be acceptable.

Plans were announced and then shelved anyways.

Yeah, the bench strength of the opposition to the government isn't that great at the moment.  the deficit is problematic, and has not been adequately explained by the government.  But this is definitely not a credible way to address the issue.

Same here, I'd be happy to give up summertime if that meant it would kill off talk of moving to GMT+1 all year round.
