The Daily Mail has a story about a Swiss owned, Panama flagged ship (MSC LEVANTE F) carrying British weapons being hit by Russian missiles today.

I've seen it reported elsewhere, but all with reference to the Daily Mail article.

On a separate topic, I know the European focus is twofold:

1) To continue supporting Ukraine with sufficient materiel;
2) To arm sufficiently to fill the gap left by the US;


... but I would really love to see a serious escalation of hybrid war attack against Russia from the West.

If the US didn't want to be scorned and hated, then it shouldn't have aligned with Russia against Ukraine and talked about minerals and deals when there's a war on and people are dying. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Fuck around and find out. Loose lips sink ships.

I'm sure it can be painful to wake up one morning and one's country is garbage and rightfully hated by every sane person on the planet. I can't lie to you about your country, but... you have my sympathies.

If this is the gratitude we get for helping Ukraine for the past 3 years and defending Europe for the past 80 years, then we are better off without these deadweight "allies".

So the Russians think it is - and I wonder if that's the case.

The Russians do not believe that Ukraine has any agency, so interpret all of those attacks in Russia (like bombings etc) as basically extensions of Western policy in Ukraine. So in their view we are doing that (not Ukrainians) which is why they're responding with bombs in DHL planes or at factories and depots in Spain, UK and Germany etc.

One question that might be worth considering is whether they're right-ish. Ukraine absolutely has agency in this war but perhaps European allies are involved in those targeting - I'm fairly sure both French and British special forces are in Ukraine on an advisory capacity, I'd expect similar from intelligence agencies.

In terms of the online/digital stuff - I think there is maybe a problem of the very strongly anti-Russia stance most of Europe have taken. For example, I think there would be an argument for trying to orchestrate a brain drain from Russia - but we haven't, we've closed the possibility of young Russians getting out. But I think we are open societies by default so there are lots of channels in - Russia is more closed and we have decided to close the channels that we had open that makes it more challenging for us to do anything.

The mouthpieces on their propaganda channels have already said that they're the ones cutting Baltic cables...I would say it is an adequate response.

Did you actually read what you quoted? I was talking about the backstabbing of Ukraine and alignment with Russia, not about history. Europe should support American cooperation with Russia against Ukraine out of gratitude for earlier good deeds?

I fully understand that there may be an instinct to get defensive and rally around Daddy Trump and your bff Vance against the foreign meanies. Only reinforces how important it is for sane countries to cut ties with America.
