Inspired by some guy who hit on a 14-year-old, who I mentioned in the Off Topic thread.
What age do you find women to be most attractive? If you don't find women attractive, at what age do you think they are most attractive?
Late-twenties to early-thirties are the perfect age, in my opinion. Usually old enough to be relatively mature and young enough to look absolutely stunning.
22-30.
18-21 still have that teen fat usually. But I don't mind nailin' them.
31 and over is usually spoiled meat and generally fall into either divorced and ugly, divorced and ANGRY and the ones wanting a sucker to be the daddy for their kids.

That said, I've known several women who were none of the above.
As I get older I find there is less and less overlap in the group of women I find physically attractive and the group of women I can have a conversation with without wanting to punch in the baby-maker.
Single and oogling seems to be the best bet ATM.

When I was 29, and already divorced, I dated this very cool chick for 8 months or so. She had never been married, no kids, nothing. It seemed great at the time, until I realized there is usally a reason for that.
After about 6 months of dating and meeting my kids she went kinda crazy, decided she didn't want to be in a serious relationship with someone who had an e-wife and kids. A couple of months after we quit seeing each other I heard she got married to some dude who everyone knew was a dirtbag. That marriage didn't last 6 months.
So the moral is sbr damages women?

Situation is a bit different now. I'm surrounded by 18-year-olds and I feel kind of creepy. Good god they're so fucking young.

When I was 16 it was 20 year olds that seemed so mature and awesome and attractive.
When I was 20 it was 25 year olds that I wanted.

On hot 18 year olds I am torn.
On the one hand- shit am I glad I'm doing this teaching in Japan thing at 25 rather than 21. Now I look at them and I largely see kids. Its just wrong. Off limits.
Were I 21 though....that age gap is just small enough to be acceptable...despite the legal issues.....

As soon as they get to that age themselves, men do not want to see a reflection of their own mortality (even in their own balding pates), and thus project an image of the youth they still imagine themselves to be through the girls they choose to date. Generally this falls at a time in life when they can afford to support the materialistic desires of their mate and thus distract them from their fading looks, in the vain hope of preventing their eye straying to handsome youths their own age, even if the spreading belly prevents them keeping pace with the physical ones.
And so single women in their 40s, freed from the pressure to start or raise a family and with the leisure time available to stay slim and fit, are happy in their own company and in that of a lifetime of friends. They are free to date a far wider range of ages of men than have been available to them at any point in their lives so far, without feeling the need for commitment, which they have generally experienced and been disappointed with earlier.
Also poll is worthless without involving the age of the respondent.

I can't imagine it differs much between the genders, but men under 30 are just dull. I certainly couldn't discuss the Syrian situation or the Libor criss with a 20-year-old man.

Then again I know plenty of older folks (:P) who are dumb as bricks. maybe it's more on opertunity thing. Being in your thirties/forties/whatever its easier to find like minded people in your age group.

Eh, men focus more intently on physical attractiveness cues and these are clearly correlated with the years of maximum fertility. That's just the nature of the beast and carping about the shallowness of it is no more valid than 15-23 year old men grousing about women in their age cohort preferring older men.

I will say that I'm kind of grossed out at the idea that anyone would even consider girls in the 14-17 age range "women". Do you consider boys in that age bracket "men"? Sure, teens can be attractive, but they're not grown and really just shouldn't be - even jokingly - thrown in there.*

Errr, laws like this still exist in the US. E.g. In Arkansas with a parental consent girls can marry at 16 and boys at 17.
Edit: and apparently in Kansas you can go as low as 12 for girls and 14 for boys. :lol:

Physically yes which can be sorta creepy when you have a girl who looks 20 but has the mental maturity of a ten year old.
But the whole marriage age thing was more motivated by the desire to produce as many children who survive to adulthood as possible than their actual physical or mental maturity.
I was interested to find out the other day that in an era where people married young, women didn't reach puberty until later in life, at around 18. True story: My ex-husband's great grandfather married his first wife when she was 14 and he was 20. They had 18 children over the course of the marriage. When the youngest was only an infant, an illness came through and wiped the lot of them out. Only he survived. He packed up and moved to the US, where he promptly married another 14 year old (he was now 41) and had 14 more children, most of which survived to adulthood.

Well you cannot tell that until you meet them. I work at a University and there are tons of beautiful young women all over the place but I know alot of them are 18 and 19 and would be incredibly annoying to me if I were to get to know them. But I thought this thread was a purely physical thing.

One of the things I like most about women is that they have a much more nuanced view of attraction than men do. For us, it really is pretty shallow.
I think it's because women have wombs and we don't. We have womb envy. If you have a womb, you have a lot more intrinsic value reproductively. A man's reproductive value lies in a one-time payload delivery. So we have to have other skills and stuff so that we have some value to bring to the table in a partnership. Those other things factor into women's attraction to men.
Oh, and that "other stuff we have to bring to the table"--that ties in with the emasculation issue as well. Because it's not good enough that a guy is attractive. He has to have the traits that make women want to be with him for other reasons. Or at least we think so, and get insecure if things happen that threaten our image as having those traits.

I dont think people married at a young age in the 1800s. As I recall they married later in life because money had to be saved by the husband to be in order to show he was able to support his wife/family.

When she said she couldnt have a discussion with a 20 year old, its not that the 20 year old is incapable of having such a discussion, its that the 20 year old would be too busy doing other things with her to have such a discussion. Now why she would find that boring is another question entirely.
