Don't be so sure. OK, so the Redskins are Raiders East, but let's remember that the Cowboys are approaching Full Choke Time now.
The Redskins have been running at full choke all season, and they're coming off a win so they'll be cripplingly overconfident.

Nobody has more power to fail than the Cowboys. That's what makes the media hard-on for them so sweet.
Why/when did they start with these thursday games?
This is the 2nd week for this season.
As to how many seasons ago they started playing I don't recall

A couple of years ago. The NFL puts them on the NFL Network in an effort to make the network more attractive to fans. They start in November, and run into late December.
I think this is the first year we get them televised, besides the thanksgiving thursday games, and more games on Danish tv can only be a good thing!
I like thursday games, because I have only 2 classes on Friday. Yay time zones!

Which is another reason that the Thursday Night games showed up: To increase consumer pressure on Time-Warner. Probably a mistake, since cable companies couldn't care less about consumer pressure.

That's pretty odd, considering the NFL doesn't charge anybody to carry it in the first place.
Comcast sued them when they stopped getting the NFL feed because Comcast was charging subscribers for something the NFL was providing to cable companies for free.
QuoteRevenge of the Iraqi detainees: Brett Favre jokes
* NFL
Fri Nov 20,2009 12:06 PM ET
By Rick Chandler
You think you know how to torture, America? Waterboarding is for schoolchildren. Detainees locked in an internment camp in Iraq are mocking their captors -- members of the Wisconsin National Guard -- with Brett Favre jokes.
Evil bastards!
It all started when the National Guardsmen began decorating their trucks and other areas of Camp Cropper with Packers colors recently. The prisoners picked up on it, did some research (Wiraqipedia?), and began with the Favre barbs. What goes around comes around, I suppose. I blame Dick Cheney.
"They know Favre by name," said First Lieutenant Tim Boehnen, who is from New Richmond, Wis.
"One of the big words they know now is shenanigan. They'll constantly talk about 'Favre shenanigans,' 'He's so good for the Vikings,' and 'The Packers have got to really feel bad about that one.' "
According to Boehnen, it started when troops there started decorating their camp in Packers colors.
"They obviously then started up the conversations, and started talking about Brett Favre. They soon learned about Favre going to the Vikings, and things just started going downhill from there."
Boehnen said soccer is the main sport that detainees pay attention to there, so there's not exactly a Vikings fan club chapter in Iraq.
"They'll hear guards talking about it, and then they pick up a lot of stuff from that, too," said Boehnen. "They're very crafty. They learn different stuff from different ways."
Once they learn a little more about football, they can start increasing the pressure: Like calling for Matt Flynn to replace Aaron Rodgers, or making fun of cheese.
And wait'll they learn that Joseph McCarthy is from Wisconsin. Oops. Do they have Internet access?
:lmfao: Awesome

ARE WE SYNERGIZED
"Quite honestly, the best way to do it, is you can't put him on the field. The only entity on a football field that can stop Peyton Manning is the sideline. The best defensive player is the sideline. You keep Peyton on the sideline, you have a chance. You can say it's the blitz, or the pass rush or coverage. People have tried everything every year and continuously come up with exotic schemes ... and it doesn't really matter."

See, you would have thought that Ed Reed would have had a good year, because the obvious choice is to throw the ball, right? But really, Reed's having a fairly average year, because the receivers just get open against the corners. The opposing QB can just throw to the receiver open away from Ed Reed, rather then tempting fate.
I'm still trying to decide if I want to hold my stomach and watch some of the Detroit-Cleveland game. Maybe a Lion defender will chop block Brady Quinn for the hell of it.

Btw Derrick Mason is seriously making up for that dropped pass.
...and Baltimore's 12-year old kicker puts them ahead with his 5th FG after Baltimore's offense chokes yet again in the red zone.
Now we'll probably see Manning drive down the field for a TD that only takes 40 seconds off the clock :D

Good, then you won't be heartbroken when they choke in their first playoff game.
hyuk hyuk KC...
(Did I mention that my ex was from just north of Pittsburgh?)
By the way, my fantasy team wants to thank whoever it was that dumped Mendenhall after the first few weeks of the season.
Hmm...Pats are 3rd in points scored and 2nd in points allowed.
I'm smelling Superbowl baby! :w00t:

For the love of Hod Neil, please please please let CDM run rampant on Timmah. :worthy:
I didn't have game here so question, how the fuck did bengals lose to raiders?!?!?

Raiders played really good D & capitalized on Bungles' mistakes. Bengals were crap in the red zone, missed a couple FGs and turned the ball over at the absolute worst times.
The same week I start Collie over Amendola the Rams decides to put up something resembling a fight. 3 points loss to CDM. :(
The Raiders have a reasonable amount of talent on the roster; just shows how important the QB position is.
I was also very impressed with Matthew Stafford; to see him fight off the medical staff to get back in the game for that last play was telling. No one doubted his talent, but seeing a 21 year old, multi-millionaire with no chance of losing his starting job do that while in such obvious pain, shows a lot about leadership and desire, which are hard to measure at the combine.

And I can sum it all up in just one word: courage, dedication, daring, pride, pluck, spirit, grit, mettle, and G-U-T-S, *guts*. Why, Stafford's got more guts in his little finger than most of us have in our large intestine, including the colon!
I picked a hell of a week to stop sniffing glue.
Roflsburger has a concussion, and Charlie Batch broke his wrist. That leaves: Dennis Dixon. Quack, quack.
Thank God. Someone finally figured out the red pants and red jerseys looked stupid and went back to the white pants. There's also football on.
I wonder if the Texans are even going to bother trying to run.
Nevermind. There's Chris Brown looking like a weeblewobble running around out there. The guy just seems really top heavy.
The score was essentially a run.

Yeah I like that little shovel pass. I thought Slaton had fumbled it for a second there, and almost just changed the channel. Getting all emo about Texans football.
Slaton is looking pretty good though so far.
Nooo! Leach is down!
WTF - they showed a brief highlight of the CFL Eastern Final during the MNF halftime show, then mentioned the Grey Cup is next week?

The Bucs just signed a QB off dallas practice squad and could possibly cut leftwich this week and the steelers could in theory add him back. :bowler:

I don't see too many CFL highlights on NFL broadcasts. Plus they showed almost as many hockey highlights and CFL, and then ignored the slightly more interesting Roughriders/Stampeders matchup.

Oh I see what you're saying. They were showing some highlights yesterday and last week on ESPN (IIRC it's all been with Berman). I've kinda been diggin the CFL stuff.

Well that's just good sense. :Canuck:
If you can manage to catch it the Grey Cup is almost always a good matchup.

I was planning on looking, but I'm not entirely sure it'll be on down here.
<_< 17 - 14 Titans now, thanks to Kris Brown hooking a normally automatic FG. He's mysteriously sucked at times this year. Then of course, he'll go an make something crazy like a 60 yarder...
Kickers...
Oh and Dunta PAY ME RICK Robinson needs to make that pick every time if he's going to demand as much cash as he is.
Good. Bironas (another normally "automatic" kicker) gave that three back.
Edit:
QuoteSlaton is looking pretty good though so far.
<_<
Hey at least it was just a drop instead of a fumble. Or something. Of course it was on an absolutely critical 3rd down play, and now the Titans have the ball back and can run the clock, etc, and kick the game winning FG.
Edit2: <_<
Edit3: Heh they can suddenly move the ball again.
Now let's see if Kris Brown can make it. Oh hey nice job missing it. Entertaining game, at least. Chris Johnson is still a monster.
QuoteWell Texans fans, time to look forward to April!
What are gonna look for in the Draft?

Houston has to play Indy again Sunday IIRC. Pretty rough for them right now.
Texans have some gnarly looking cheerleaders.
Well not hideous, but those blue hot pants made everyone's ass look big.

This year's team definitely isn't as hot as last year's :internet male:. I did get to see last year's in person up close though, so that might be why I feel that way.
I wouldn't mind taking Larisa and Marisa's math class though. Just because.
Chris Johnson may have done well running the ball, but he didn't get any receptions or into the end zone. If he'd have even gotten 10 points in ff I'd have won.

 Blame Vince for that. There were a few times Johnson was open, but Young decided to take off with it (or throw it to someone else).
Yup I hate Vince Young. I preferred him when he was in suicidal mode.

I was sweating that it was going to end up in overtime and he'd get the 3 more points he needed.

 Me too, that's the only reason I was pissed at the kicker. Was watching the game with stat-tracker open. Basically all he needed was 2-3 short catches.

Yeah, that's one of the ballsiest things I've seen in the NFL in a long time.
I'd mention Bernie Kosar playing an entire half of MNF on a broken foot, but then I'd be accused of my Kosarism.
