Yo, cc, does this help?

http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=113360

QuoteGreetings All,

Please ensure your computer time settings correspond to your swtor.com account basic settings time zone to prevent the Server Not Responding error message.

If you are seeing a blank Server Select screen, this issue could be caused by your firewall.

Please wait at least 3 minutes on the server page and confirm that the list has not been populated, then please remove and re-add "swtor.exe" to the list of exceptions of your firewall, disable any programs similar to "peer-blocker" and restart your Router.

Please be aware that we do not recommend to turn off firewall or your internet security completely.

For all those not sure how to set up exceptions for their firewall or internet security software please refer to following pages when using the Windows built-in firewall:

Windows 7
Windows Vista
Windows XP

(Please be aware that we are not responsible for the content of other websites.)

If you are using a 3rd party software or Internet security software with built-in firewall please refer to the manual you have received with your software package. When you don't have a manual you have to visit the website of your software developer.

Also make sure you have only one firewall working at the same time. Never use a firewall delivered with your internet security software package together with your windows firewall - turn one of them off.

Don't use a proxy - it may interfere with the communication between your client and our servers. When you are on a public network like on the campus of an university or a hotel you have to contact the network administrator because they may block some ports used for server communication.

We also recommend that you turn off any software you are not using as long as you play Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Thank You for playing Star Wars™: The Old Republic™

Quoteupdate:
was on the phone with swtor for 3hrs taking to a tier 3 support and his boss. its a network problem. They gave me the port numbers and we ran a tracet test on the site because they couldn't run one on me while I was in game. During that tracet test we found that i was loosing all incoming ip address's when I sit on a page. I start out with a huge number of the same or slightly different IP address's siting on my account page and the more times we did a tracet test the more of those IP address's disappeared. They told me to contact my internet provider and I did. I was on the phone with my internet provider for 3hrs total. My cell phone died half way threw so I had to recall them and get a different guy but everything they did on there end didnt solve anything either. The last thing they did was a tech provider for my modem manual opened ports 8995, 12000-12999 and 20000-30000. He did this and nothing changed. I still got the Server Not Responding error. He even offered to give me a replacement modem for free. I have tried many things and will talk to swtor customer server yet again today or tomorrow I haven't picked yet and update there tier 3 tech support. This problem has caused way to much hassle over the 4, now 5days since I bought the game and have been unable to play.

This is just my fail attempt to put all the information I have on this forum to try to get some attention to this topic.

Quotei dont know if it will help but i was having the same thing happening to me i was fighting it for three day and all i did to fix it was set my computers clock the time and date was off and now it work just fine. hope this helps sorry if it dont

QuoteSo I decided not to go with Origin. What I found out was that my Norton 360 was blocking the game from connecting with the servers. I changed my settings, and it's downloading the patch.

Hope this helps.

In spoiler tags below, what I put in the services file to make it work. Note that to edit that file, you have to first run Notepad as Administrator, and use the Open dialog from within Notepad to browse to the file. You also can't see it in the Open dialog until you change the dropdown on the right side to "All Files" instead of "Text files".

I really hope this works for you.

Have you heard about anyone else having the same problem?

What exactly IS the problem?

Yeah, my thread in the CS section of the forum is well attended.  there are also variations on the theme that a lot of people are experiencing  - all related to the launcher.

Thanks Syt but I have done all those things.

Ironically when I replaced my current services files with the files suggested I got the error the suggested files were supposed to fix.

Beautiful line: "I'd rather see Alderaan blown up into space debris than turning it over to the Empire!"

I also liked that part in KOTOR where you try to protect the Jedi base on Dantooine by claiming it was on Alderaan.

I like the sniper class quest where I have to stop the dissidents from blowing up the power conduits that provide power to Kaas City.

Said conduits run underneath the Dark Temple. That has been there for thousands of years before Kaas City was even built.

So that means that when they built Kaas City, they went and dug underneath the Dark Temple to lay the power conduits? Really?

Maybe they did an aarchaeological survey beforehand and the Sith Landmarks Commission required them to dig underneath it so to preserve this important part of Sith cultural heritage.

Well since everyone else is Sith and I rolled on a different server, I was curious if people are still playing.  I am - about to hit 25 on my trooper.  I've also rolled a jedi alt and a smuggler alt.  Smuggler has some great lines, and I gave mine the moustache of a 70s porn star.     Not sure I'll take either over level 10 any time soon - not eager to re-run all those coruscant quests.
Posts here are my own private opinions.  I do not speak for my employer.

Berkut

My Juggernaut is about to hit 30, and my Sorc is at 21.

Ive found that if I alternate doing the side quests on each world, I still get plenty of XP from the mainline quests and PVP/space combat/FPs to level, and then I don't have to repeat everything.
