Everyone I asked has stressed the importance of two bathrooms, both for guests and for living with someone (hint: at least one at all times does not smell like shit).
I agree with this.  I don't allow the rabble to use my master bathroom.  That throne is reserved for me.

Hell, guests can't even access the master suite in my house.

:hmm: I don't have a rule against that, but there's really no reason for anyone but me and Princesca to go in there.

I like bricks.  :hmm:

Exposed brick is a lot like IKEA;  after a certain age/income level, you outgrow it.
If the place he was moving into then sure brick is fine. But is he planning to actually put brick over the walls?

That's even stupider.

Besides, brick is nothing but dust.  A nice, fine layer of silt develops on your shit every 2 days.  Annoying.

This. And graze you every time you walk into it. And no fun to lean against for standing up sex.

But seriously, if you think that a 1000 sq. feet condo is small, you shouldn't really come to live in a European city.

I'm finding it hard enough living in a Canadian city.  1500 sq ft. house is not what I would call large by any stretch... <_<

Do you have the equivalent in the basement?

Not quite, but the footage doesn't include the basement.

I dunno, but square footage never includes the basement.

I find the idea that I'm living in "non-space" somewhat distressing.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

That is why I am paying $6000 to an interior decorator - to make sure whatever I have in mind looks good in the space I have. ;)

It's fine to get professional assistance (and it's even fine to get our opinions), but remember that in the final tally, the decorator works for you and is being paid to realize your vison for the place, and you're the one that has to live with the result, not the decorator.
