The Park Board has no role in determining how the acqarium goes about its business.  That is determined by the Acquarium itself.  The Park Board really only acts as landlord. That was the basis of the Acquarium's legal challenge to the "ban" the Vision park board put on the acquarium.  The lease specifically says the landlord won't interfere with operations.  The Park Board was going for cheap political points arising from the popularity of the Black Fish documentary.

What will the NPA Board bring?  Hopefully a Park Board that won't breach its legal obligations for cheap political points.

If you want to read about how the Acquarium acquires its animals read this

Anyhow, this was the first election for my wife as a Canadian citizen. She was stoked.

We're in general agreement on politics, if that's what you're asking. AFAIC, the important thing is that she voted.

Grey Fox

Voting the right way is when a wife votes like her husband tells her to.

;)

"voting the right way" is not voting NDP or Liberal.

Last provincial election my wife and I went out and cancelled out each others vote, but at least neither of us voted the wrong way.

Those were the only choices she had in this municipal election.

Well, yeah but in BC "Liberal" = "Conservative party".

... or are you saying that the NPA is aligned with the federal Liberals?

Barrister

I have to say that although BC politics are usually quite insane, I do like the idea of having municipal "parties".  Gives candidates a shared platform, and perhaps more importantly, a shared responsibility to follow through on that platform.

Yeah... I think it's better to have parties.

What do you consider so insane about BC politics?

BC Liberals are most certainly not Federal Conservative.  It is a coalition of Federal Liberals and Conservatives.   The balance of power between those two factions was decided in the last leadership contest.  Christy has been a Federal Liberal her whole life - literally.

Well a good starting point is how you correctly mention that the Liberals are actually Conservatives.

I don't even know where else to go.  I thought the wackiness of BC politics was common knowledge.

Let's see...  Your second Premier was Amor De Cosmos.  There's WAC "Wacky" Bennett, your premier of 20-odd years.  The continued craziness of Bill Vander Zalm.  Mike Harcourt and Bingogate.  Glen Clark and Casinogate.  Gordon Campbell and his drunk driving, but also his HST reversal.  Your general love of referendums.
