Habbaku

The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

The Da Vinci Code. Roy Batty goes on a quest for the Holy Grail and meets Gandalf and Forrest Gump. OK as a movie, but the thing the conspiracies are about seems to be fairly
pointless. The only people who would give non-zero fucks about the "secret" are people who are Catholic AND believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible. To the vast majority of humanity it'd be "OMG who the hell cares??". There is no lesbian sex.
Rutger Hauer was in that movie?  I've never seen it because the book pretty much tallied with the movie as you described it, but I'd see even a bad Rutger Hauer movie.
The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.   -G'Kar

No he was not. I thought about the way I mix the use of names, but decided to do it.

You left out Amelie, Vision and Leon.

Heavy Metal. The Color out of Space meets animation stream-of-consciousness, 70s style. Tough going at times, stuck with it for the insight into 70s culture.
There are boobs.
I was totally disappointed by the amount of skin in Heavy Metal.  That was the whole reason to buy the mag.

Me too. Back in the pre-pornhub days, this is all we got. I guess the movie, released in the early 80s, aimed at teenagers, had to tone that stuff down.

Soundtrack was pretty good.

Vanity Fair. Woman, while not a gold digger, does not socialize with broke men. OK. Nice clothes and rooms.

Wasn't it rated R?  I vaguely recall one pair of cartoon boobs in it.

Oh I thought it made sense. Everyone else in the film sacrifices and is, in some way, catastrophically weakened by their sexual/romantic ties and feelings - Smiley, Hayden, Prideaux, Tarr, even Kathy Burke's character. So thought that was a deft way of bringing that to Guillam's character.

It's the cost of that life that feelings area always a vulnerability.
