Started with Outlander. Interesting so far.

Nope too squishy.

Star Trek Discovery is coming out on Sunday.  Cautiously optimistic. :)

Tonight.

Looking forward to it.

STD will be the best Trek ever.

Hell, I'll even say it is probably impossible to do a good ST anymore.

And yes, the reboots suck too.

Having recently rewatched episodes of TNG and DS9 - they were pretty trashy though enjoyable. ;)

I expect it will suck.

Probably. Not mutually exclusive though.  ;)

You guys really need to watch Ken Burns' documentary on the Vietnam War.  Tonight was Episode 1.

A+ in my book so far

Having recently rewatched episodes of TNG and DS9 - they were pretty trashy though enjoyable. ;)

I'd have to say TNG is the last one I "really liked".  I helped having grown up with it.  Looking back, it had a good mix of really good episodes and total stinkers.

I liked DS9 starting out (it helped that I though Kira/Jadzia were uber HOTT...in different ways). But balanced by really annoying characters.  Like TNG, some really good episodes, and total stinkers.  A lot of people liked the whole Dominion War thing...I though it took it off the rails (if it ever really was on any).  Every episode where they kept trying to exploit the Mirror universe just made me cringe.

Voyager = good idea/poor execution.
Enterprise = the same as above.

Reboots = catering to millennials = suckaging suckatash

When I first watch the original Star Trek reboot, this scene...split-second cut really, pretty much made me write it off:

Having his dad crash and die...fine...the split-second cut of his body flying forward?  You don't show that.  It destroys all of the dramatic build-up you were trying for (if there was any), turning into silly crap...and tells you that the director/editors are douches.

More or less agree, though I'm still partial to TOS (and FWIW, I think TAS is under-rated).  Yeah, TOS can be campy, but at least it lacks the pseudo-communist moralizing that Picard and Co. engage in at times.
