So... Robert Downey Jr is coming back to Marvel... to play Dr Doom

That looks a bit desperate. Is there any relation between Doom and Stark in the comics? Is he really going to play two completely different main characters in the same universe?

HVC

Did he pull a nick cage and lose all his money already?
Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".
Hubris must be punished. Severely.

Couple episodes into S2 of The Bear. I like it but also not really not sweeping me off my feet - possibly because I'm usually not big into food/cooking shows. Feels mostly a bit like an edgier kitchen based Ted Lasso (incl. gratuitous use of licensed music).

Really good food porn, though. :P

Finished season 2  of The Bear. Enjoyed it a lot more. Loved the Copenhagen episode which included a proper Danish hotdog :D

The Christmas episode was excellent (reminded me of some family gatherings in the past, minus the extreme escalation  ). Also upping the guest star budget this season, it seems with Jamie Lee Curtis and Bob Odenkirk. :P

With Joel McHale and Gillian Jacobs having guest spots on the show, I guess it's appropriate that Richie at some point sets as a target that they need to be "streets ahead."

Season 3 is not on Disney+ here yet, so I may have to find it elsewhere in the meantime. :pirate EDIT: Seems to come out here Aug 14th. Guess I can wait till then. :P

Gups

I'm afraid season 3 isn't as good as the first two

Apparently there was a comic storyline where Tony Stark becomes Dr. Doom in one timeline or something. I'm not entirely sure. I feel like their decision is utter desperation, but I guess we'll see. Or, at least, others will see. I'm still incredibly far behind and have little interest in catching up.

After all the times they've tried and failed I imagine desperation is high with trying to do fantastic four amidst the current state of things.

I feel like if they just stuck to the core concepts of the Fantastic Four and their cast of characters, they'd be fine. Every film tries to throw twists and changes into things, though, and they all fall flat. I mean, just look at how they messed with Dr. Doom in the prior films. Like, you have the blueprints, the instructions, and all of the pieces there. Just make use of them.

I sense the two decades of infantile superhero nonsense is coming to an end, which is nice.

Season 1 of Only Murders in the Building. Dunno, there's always something nice about crotchety/catty/bitchy old comedians working together. :D Enjoyed it - ultimately more about the people than the actual murder mystery (as are many good murder stories), and I'm sure there's plot holes and what not, but it was a fun ride that was quirky, funny, and heartfelt.

I don't think I've watched Selina Gomez in, well, anything before, but thought she was great, and she had really good chemistry with Martin Short and Steve Martin (Steve Martin Short?). :)

Yeah the murder mystery doesn't matter so much as it is a device for getting the characters to interact in different ways.

Same thought on Gomez.

I drank because I wanted to drown my sorrows, but now the damned things have learned to swim.

Yeah, the mystery is often only there to hook you in.

Yeah - I enjoyed that a lot.

Very different than what I expected (I thought it'd be more of a satire of true crime podcasts), but very enjoyable. And just great to see Martin Short and Steve Martin working together like that.

House of the Dragon is coming into its own this season. Despite a lot of, what can I say, niggling stuff. For being set hundreds of years before GoT, it seems that armour and weapons were more modern around the time Viserys died than when Samwell Tarly and Jon Snow were at The Wall. Apparently there were no black persons in GoT, so one has to wonder what sort of ethnic cleansing happened in those two hundred odd years.

I have grown to like this George Railroad Martin universe. And some of the acting is, if not world class, at least well above average. A couple of the Targaryens are so easy to take a dislike to. What the series may be lacking, is someone to actually cheer for.

Josquius

With the black people thing. I do think we see hints of what happened to them in house of the dragon - interbreeding.
Though I do think something is bound to happen to that house and their town. Perhaps dragon related. They're very powerful in house but not seen at all in game of thrones I think.

Not sure I've noticed a difference in weapon and armour level between the two?
But I do know the setting is meant to be stagnant for millenia (which sounds like an in universe exaggeration to me)
