Watched The Marvels today.  Wasn't really bad.  I enjoyed Ms Marvel, and that family is part ofwhat made this movie watchable.  Plot was thin and ripped off Spaceballs.
PDH!

Several episodes into Andor I have no complaints.  Noteworthy CGI cityscapes.

About actors sometimes speaking gibberish when they are supposed to speak foreign language in tv/movies:
Learning that "derka derka muhammad jihad" isn't really Arabic completely ruined Team America for me

That made my day. :P

Damning with faint praise.  :P
Again.  :D
Pfft.

Even I, have my limits.  :)

I don't watch bad movies for fun.

You do actually. You find Eurotrip fun, if not funny. :contract::lol:

Josquius

Eurotrip was good. The pinacle of American teen comedies.

Movie is ok. Has the best made for song though.
Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".
Hubris must be punished. Severely.

:o

There are some amazing teen comedies out there.

Superbad
American Pie
Porky's (never seen it so no idea if it stands up, but it was infamous in it's day)
Animal House
Breakfast Club

just off the top of my head.  Superbad and Animal House being particular favourites of mine.  Hell, I should watch Superbad again (I was in a fraternity, I've watched Animal House numerous times).

Porky's was meh.  It got a lot of notoriety for T&A.

And Animal House is not a teen movie.

Porky's - like I said I've never seen.

Animal House - yes set in college, but I think the definition of a "teen comedy" is that it's about young people finding their way in the world plus lots of sex and raunchy humour - so I think it very much qualifies.

I forgot Ferris Bueller's Day Off too.

Counselor, we're just going to have to disagree on Animal House.

In a Canadian courtroom you get called "Counsel", not "counsellor".  :nerd:

OK.  Hardly a hill I want to die on, even though I think I'm right.

Porky's was the top grossing Canadian-produced film, in the Canadian box office, for over twenty years.  Bon Cop, Bad Cop beat it out in 2006.  Porky's is still number 2 on the list.

Josquius

I agree the teen comedy genre is broadly shit.
But euro trip, American pie, one or two others... These are decent films that rise above the landfill of so much absolute dross.

The other one to mention - Revenge of the Nerds.  Again Yi might disagree since it's set at university, not high school - but fuck that guy.  It was kind of funny though.

Thing is though it's aged really poorly, with a couple of scenes that frankly meet the definition of rape.  Plus, if you remember, the "nerds" have to join a national fraternity so they join the all-black Tri-Lam fraternity.  And while yes they Tri_lams are on the side of good in the movie, they're still seen as vaguely menacing.  And oh yeah - they get paired with sorority Omage Mu.  While the nerds are well, nerds, at least they get to have personalities and are smart.  Omega Mu is just fat (and besides with a couple of the characters hook up with the hot chicks, not the Omega Mu's).  Really - it's a terrible movie.

By the way also a shout-out for Old School which clearly ISN'T a "teen comedy" given that the main characters are in their 30s-40s) the whole joke is guys in their 30s-40s living out a teen comedy.

But yeah, lots and lots of crap in that category as well.  I think the Simpsons even made fun of the whole genre in the 'Homer goes to University' episode.
