It seems it first was the state of Virginia, who mobilized, " forcing" Pence to take action since Trump wouldn't do it.,

Apparently Pence will also not go along with the 25th, so articles of impeachment seem to be the only way.

I really don't want to go through the impeachment stuff again but I also don't trust a man who tried to overthrow our government with the power of the presidency.  If we could set up an agreement that Pence serves as acting president for the next two weeks that might work.  Or jab out his eyes.

I also don't want to give him the chance to pardon all these criminals. <_<
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

As said in the other thread on this I'm sure the Americans are just doing this to divorce it from its actual meaning and make it sound like a foreign (muslamic!) word.

I saw a press conference with Larry Hogan (Republican governor of Maryland) last night where he said while the Capitol riot was going on, Steny Hoyer called him on his cell and said he was trapped and begged him to send the Maryland National Guard, but Hogan said nobody could get a hold of the Secretary of Defense to authorize them entering the District.  Finally, 90 minutes later, the Secretary of the Army called Hogan and asked him to send troops.

I kind of think if I'd been Hogan and nobody could get a hold of the administration, I would have said "fuck it" and sent my guard troops in anyway. :hmm:

Oh, Hogan also said he thinks Trump should resign or be removed immediately.

you would think being reachable at all hours would be part of the secretary of defense's job description.

My guess is the Secretary tried to get clearance from Trump and Trump refused.  If I were Hogan, I think I'd be thinking maybe something terrible had happened to the Secretary and/or the President and so I needed to send my troops in without authorization because... yes, you would expect in a case where the Capitol is under seige, you would get some kind of prompt reply to 'should I send my troops to help'.

So that police officer did die.  The pro-fa protesters did something in one day what the BLM protesters didn't do for months, not that you'd be able to tell from the police response.

50 officers injured, 15 hospitalized.

Blue lives matter except in the 20003.

Those "cops" were traitors and secret Antifa sympathizers!!!!111

Who is Acting Secretary of Defence atm? I know Esper quit in the last month or two (which doesn't seem coincidental) and if you've been appointed Acting Secretary while Trump's a lame duck my guess is you're probably not the best for the job.

I think perhaps right now there may be an unspoken assumption that Pence is running things now. I don't think anyone in their right mind in the White House or on the Hill will be going to Trump for decisions on important matters ever again.

Unfortunately, that still leaves Donald with actual powers of the presidency, like the pardon. It's a mess.

I guess the next best thing would be for Pence to be treated as de facto president, and for the staffers to drag their feet on anything Trump asks them to do.  Normally that wouldn't be a good thing in a democracy, but we are where we are.

I kind of think this is exactly what's happening now.

Here's another thing I don't get: why a few hundred rioters necessitate mobilising what I understand to be the army reserves? Any self-respecting police force have riot police ready to bash heads and burn eyes out with tear gas, and based on last summer, the US do not lack these either.

My tenant who rents my guest house told his friends to break into my house. They broke a bunch of shit but thankfully weren't successful in occupying it, and I got out in time. His lease is up on January 20th anyway, so should I let him finish up his lease or kick him out now?

Not a single quote from a Spanish official, understandable since they have spent the last 24h accusing each other of being more like Trump  <_<
