When Trump gets rid of term limits, any chances Obama accepts to be the Democrat candidate?

Granted the ability of the USSC to just Calvin Ball their way through legal precedent is impressive, but I don't think they can just overturn a Constitutional amendment. And Amending the Constitution to say the 'Sky is Blue' would be difficult enough these days.

Who's going to stop them? The Fascists are in control, no precedent holds anymore.

Well if it goes that far, then who the Democrats nominate won't matter because they will all be in Leavenworth.

Iran was plotting to assassinate Trump.  But because they're idiots they tried to farm it out to some criminal.  They really need to stop this silliness.  You want an American invasion?  Cause this is how you get an American invasion.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Not likely, as long as they are taking down the 22nd amendment, they will take down the 13th 14th and 15th as well.

Quote from: Josquius on November 08, 2024, 05:56:32 PMMight there not be a temptation for Putin to give concessions to Ukraine because Trump asked for them. Give Trump a clear win in Ukraine. Show America he's not all talk and really can deal with Russia better.
Trump won't be asking for anything.

At best, Russia will ask for annexation of Crimea+Dombass.  They will consolidate their forces, re-arm, international aid will be permanently cut to Ukraine and then they will re-attack.

Yes. That would ultimately be the plan of course.
But they would be quite keen on being able to halt the fighting for a while to do this rebuilding and doing it in a way to secure trumps position in the US... Seems wise from their pov.

Vance said in an interview that if Europeans want to regulate ex-Twitter, the US could drop support for NATO.

Also outlines a possible "peace" in Ukraine - freeze frontline, create fortified DMZ, guaranteed Ukraininan neutrality, Germany and others rebuild Ukraine.

Ryan asked Vance what Trump's plan was to end the war in Ukraine.

The senator said Trump would have a discussion with the Russians, Ukrainians, and Europeans and tell them that they "need to figure out what a peaceful settlement looks like."

Vance also told Ryan that a possible peace agreement could mean that Russia would hold onto the land they have seized and that a demilitarized zone would be implemented along the current frontlines. Vance added that Ukraine would also give Russia a "guarantee of neutrality."

"What it probably looks like is something like the current line of demarcation between Russia and Ukraine becomes like a demilitarized zone, heavily fortified [so] the Russians don't invade again," he said.

Trump's running mate also suggested that Europe, specifically Germany, and not Russia, would have to fund the rebuilding of Ukraine.

"Ukraine remains an independent sovereignty. Russia gets the guarantee of neutrality from Ukraine. It does not join NATO and some other allied institutions. Germans and other nations have to fund Ukraine's reconstruction," Vance added.

QuoteRobert F. Kennedy Jr:

When I was on the plane the other day with President Trump, we were talking about the Middle East, and he took a piece of paper and he drew on it. Map of the Middle East with all the nations on it, which most Americans couldn't do.

And then he he wrote in each country the troops strength. He was he was particularly looking at the border between Syria and Turkey, and he said, "We have 500 men on the border of of Syria and Turkey", and a little encampment that was bombed.

And he said there's 750,000 troops in Turkey. There's 250,000 in Syria. If they go up against each other, we're in the middle.

He said to his generals, "What's going to happen to those 500 men?".

His general said to him, "They're going to be cannon fodder."

And he said, "Get them out!"

Trump couldn't write down the names and birthdates of his wives and children if he had to.

I think Trump's return to a traditional "no foreign entanglements" is a big part of his appeal - and tapping into some deep resonances in America. Taken with his record in office of a foreign policy had the odd punitive strike but basically not really any new conflicts or bases - I believe the Saudis were genuinely shocked after Iran attacked their air fields because they thought they had security guarantees from the US when it turns out they didn't.

I don't agree with his approach (but I wouldn't, I live in a foreign entanglement), but I'm not sure I've really seen an effective response to it from Democrats or even whatever remains of anti-Trump Republicans.
