Quote"They have in principle asked that the new relationship not apply to Gibraltar without the explicit consent of Spain, which will only be given if the bilateral talks with Spain and the UK over the rock are resolved," a senior EU diplomat said.
:hmm:

This is nothing new. I recall the Brexiters throwing a fit about this when the negotiations were first opened. It stands to reason that Spain has a particular interest and should have the biggest say in what to do about Gibraltar just as Ireland has a particular interest in Northern Ireland.
They managed to warp this into the EU saying that Gibraltar should be Spanish now.

Guardian reports that Johnson wants to impose full customs check on EU imports ASAP.

When is the UK going to realize that they don't have any leverage? Are they ever?

Barnier will call his bluff every single time, and win every single time.

well, who needs a manufacturing sector anyways. Not Johnson, that's for sure.

I've just noticed. Dunkirk seems to be available on Netflix from this weekend. Netflix seems to be making a comment on Brexit?

Well, to be fair, the UK doesn't have much of a manufacturing sector left nowadays.

No Dunkirk on US Netflix.

Zanza

German Netflix had Dunkirk for a while already.

I have long said the only way to truly unite the country is to invade Spain.

Some very interesting polls in Ireland. Fine Gael support collapsing, which makes sense given the state of health and housing in Ireland. Votes not going to Fianna Fáil, but Sinn Fein. Which is another example of sort of breakwaters in western politics collapsing. Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil making lots of references to the Troubles (or even IRA linked murders that are more recent) and that Sinn Fein are a party where policy is not necessarily made by elected politicians.

But it feels like voters definitely want a change. And, latest poll has opened up possibility of a Sinn Fein/Green/People Before Profit left coalition  :hmm:

Yeah. We need new thinking to counter this nationalist surge.

That withdrawal from the continent involves sustaining crushing human and material losses to be papered over by nice speeches from Tory politicians?

I'm taking no interest in Brexit, because I'm assuming nearly everything announcement from this government is BS.  :bowler:
