It was not reallly a secret, his father was a Syrian native that was in the US doing his PhD and met his mother in university. She got pregnant with him but his parents couldn't marry because of opposition of his mother's family because his father was a muslim and ultimately he was given in adoption. Afterwards his parents ended up getting married but he was already being raised by his adoptive family.

AFAIK Jobs never had much contact with his biological parents and considered his adoptive family to be his only real one. His biological parents also didn't know that the son they had given in adoption in the 50s was Steve Jobs until after he was already world famous.

IIRC from articles when Jobs died, his Syrian father nowadays manages a casino somewhere in Nevada.
