What? Oh the fried chicken thing.

Which I still hold is the stupidest stereotype ever. Yes I think all black people love fried chicken, because all people love fried chicken. Some people may not eat fried chicken for ethical or health reasons, but no one can eat fried chicken and deny its tastiness.

I associate it more with the mundane/downmarket areas of London, they must love their fried chicken down there, a vast number of outlets. I know about the US stereotype but it has no resonance.

I can totally live without fried chicken.  I honestly can't remember the last time I ate some.

Same here.  I never got the appeal of deep frying, it's almost never remotely the best way to cook food.

I haven't eaten fried chicken in a long time as well, but it is tasty. That is all I am saying.

Back in my student days I used to eat fried chicken a lot, because it was cheap and tasty, but I probably haven't had one in 15 years or so.

Maybe it's time to finally visit America. :hmm:

I was thinking the same thing.
It seems to pass right over Nashville and St Louis.

I love fried chicken and eat it more often than I should.  And it really seems to have global appeal, moreso than hamburgers or pizza, which is why IIRC KFC is actually the biggest global franchise.  Even Central American-style fried chicken seems to have become a global craze in its own right.  The world loves fried chicken.

I only buy chicken very occasionally at the supermarket so I can get bio-chicken. I don't trust other places to do that, least of all fastfood chains.

What's bio-chicken?  Organically-farmed, hormone-free chicken or something else?

Yes, those kinds. When I noticed those are 5 to 10 times more expensive than the cheap version I've never really wanted to buy the cheap one again. Whatever it is, it's not chicken.
At the same time I think bio-chicken is too expensive, so in the end I pretty much gave up on chicken altogether.

As Homer Simpson said, chicken is the only meat that all major religions will agree to eat.

This goes for something I've pondered about organics generally, but does the bio-chicken actually taste better than the standard chicken?  Or is it just an ethical decision?

Certainly your McNuggets strain the boundary of "chicken," but to me the regular chicken breasts you find at the supermarket, for example, look virtually the same as the organic ones.  Though the price difference is maybe double here in the US, certainly not five or ten times more.

Here it does taste better because to get the national organic quality mark you can't "marinate it naturally" which all the chicken producers otherwise do, it's basically injecting the meat with water to make it appear meatier.
