In Philly my stop was the last one, and at least if it was the last train of the night, they had to walk the whole train and wake up the sleeping drunk sailors. :D

When I lived in a village here it happened all too often that I had a hour+ walk home after missing my stop.

A friend in japan once however somehow managed to end up 500km from home after missing his stop

My idea for an app: an alarm clocked connected to GPS.

There's a blackboard in the kitchen where my wife and I write groceries to buy. Here's what she's got written there today.

Different take on US immigration issue from Scott Sumner:

" If we allowed immigration at levels equal to 1% of the US population, it would allow the US to surpass China in total population in about 100 years, when their population is expected to have fallen back to 750 million.  We would again become the world's largest economy."
The purpose of studying economics is not to acquire a set of ready-made answers to economic questions, but to learn how to avoid being deceived by economists.

QuoteYou've tried church. You've tried prayer. You've even sacrificed the fatted calf, but God still won't smite your enemies. Get The Jesus Slingshot, new from My Left Behind Toys! The Jesus Slingshot will help you do unto others before they can do unto you!

This blasphemous gravel launcher has been cropping up at least since H. R. Giger imagined Satan using a Jesus slingshot for his painting Satan I in 1977. That particular image gained notoriety as the cover for non-yodeling Swiss extreme metal band Celtic Frost's album To Mega Therion in 1985.

I think it's kinda cute, in a sicko way.  Just imagine, a wing of tank busters flying NOE and taking out Chicom landing forces in the Senkakus with Lettow's wife on the fuselage.

These are the four kisarazu sisters.  They are original characters created just for the self-defence forces, not based on any anime or manga.  Kisarazu is the real name of the place that the unit is based in.  Four characters because the unit is some "4th anti-something squad".  The black haired character is probably the most well-known of the four sisters, because there is a vague resemblence to Akemi Homura, arguably the star of Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

Talk about disturbing.

Talk about disturbing.

I think the Japanese self-defence forces mainly use them for recruitment.

Like he said, disturbing. So much for bushido.

They tried the bushido way, but that ended in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.  If it didn't work, it is only natural to try something else.  A kinder, gentler, cuter way.

I'm talking about you knowing that shit, you fruity freak.  That's what's disturbing.
