Because it does nothing for the common folk. Just more money for the capitalist corporations to hide somewhere or jobs to move.

Why would you put more than one space between sentences?
That's how Mrs. Friedman taught us to do it in 9th grade.  It did seem weird at the time, but so did not indenting the first line of new paragraphs.  With things like these, you should do what you're told and not overthink it.

I indent the first line of paragraphs when I don't put extra space between them, but I rarely format documents that way anymore.  Like Jake said, modern electronic typesetting makes it easy to set text off and create breaks without indents.

I still cling to two-space sentences, though.  It may be an artifact of the small fonts I typically use, but it makes it easier to see what is a break between sentences and what is a break between words.

I drive by this graveyard when I am working at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.  Mothers's 2-year old child dies and then orders ghostly remembrance photo.  Arrested a month later along with boyfriend for beating the little girl to death.  Crazy and sad.

Try this Facebook hidden message feature at your peril. I found a treasure trove of indecent proposals from around the world, a passive-aggressive message from an ex from decades ago and some I actually would have wanted to read from genuine friends who weren't Facebook friends.

You weren't fabulous enough to be hit on by people from around the world via facebook? Or facebook doesn't hide it for you ;)

Wow, what a nasty sad story.

The article is a bit of a commentary on the nature of social media - allegedly, the person against whom part of the internet mob's wrath is directed is ... the photographer.

Now admittedly, the service she provides ('shopping dead relations into current pics) is weird and tacky, but hate emails?

Weird. Marty and Viper assured me there is no internet mob anymore :hmm:

Tacky maybe, but not weird. People have been putting dead relatives in photos forever.

Done with the lab work (:(); but what I found might be of some interest to the Languish armchair physicists.

The unit we had under test is an electronic filter.  The unit is going in a locomotive; so it must be tested to handle the vibrations of a running train.  We run two types of test, random vibrations and sinusoidal vibrations.  We did the random first; the unit rattled like it was going break throughout the entire test and the electronic pattern of the filter was distorted the entire time.  Then we did the sinusoidal pattern; which is the vibrations are done in a simple sine wave and the frequency slowly changes.  At first there was nothing, but then as we got to 80 Hz the unit again started rattling.  Something in the unit has a resonant frequency around 90 Hz and that is what is causing the unit to rattle (and the pattern to distort).  The reason that we always heard a rattling when we did the random vibrations is that the "Random" vibrations are composed are a series of sine waves (in fact any wave pattern can be modeled as an infinite series of sine waves.)  At least one of the varying sine waves in the random pattern must have contained something near the resonant frequency.

I haven't done anything with resonance since sophomore physics 25 years ago.  It was interesting to see it again.
In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

As "ghosts" together with them?

My impression is that the only folks doing that in the past were spiritualist fraudsters who claimed the "ghosts" were real.  ;)

It's still weird.

Oh is that a fact? I thought it was for sentimental reasons. But now that I think about it I really was a big thing after WWI and that was when Mediums were all over the place saying you could talk to your three kids who died at Verdun.

I don't know. People like images of dead people hanging with each other.

Huh. I guess US Grant, Hayes, Garfield, Arthur, Harrison, McKinley, Taft, Harding, Coolidge, and Hoover weren't cool enough to hang with the other Republican Presidents.
