Tacky maybe, but not weird. People have been putting dead relatives in photos forever.

It's still weird.

I don't know. People like images of dead people hanging with each other.

Huh. I guess US Grant, Hayes, Garfield, Arthur, Harrison, McKinley, Taft, Harding, Coolidge, and Hoover weren't cool enough to hang with the other Republican Presidents.

I don't see how that painting is at all similar to a photo of a mother looking at her daughter's grave and a ghost image of her dead daughter standing behind her.

Well how is that appreciably different than a painting, or photo-shopped picture, of me and all my deceased relatives sitting around laughing and playing cards?

I don't think I can explain it to you if you don't understand. :hmm:

I bet Lincoln was awful at cards. Unless "Honest Abe" was an ironic nickname.  :hmm:

You can only explain things to people that already understand it? Seems like a useless ability to me :P

As "ghosts" together with them?

My impression is that the only folks doing that in the past were spiritualist fraudsters who claimed the "ghosts" were real.  ;)

Oh is that a fact? I thought it was for sentimental reasons. But now that I think about it I really was a big thing after WWI and that was when Mediums were all over the place saying you could talk to your three kids who died at Verdun.

There were pics taken of dead relations, for sentimental purposes:

Then there were "spirit photographs", taken by fraudsters:

Not sure if making a non-spiritualist "spirit photo" for sentimental reasons was ever a thing.

Ok there were these pictures I saw in various WWI things where the family would be there with their dead father/son in military garb added in. It was obviously an image from a previous photo and not intended, I didn't think, to be like that Spirit Photography thing. I guess that was what I thought of when I saw that little girl there.

What's creepy about this photo is that the Bushes aren't dead yet.

That painting is really well done.  I can figure out who is who.

There is a non-zero chance that Trump will join them.

If you have good Photoshop skills, you can make anyone join them.

Stay classy, Malthus. ;) Not all of them are dead, by the way.
