Wow, that's still legal?   :hmm:  I think I have an idea for a lucrative business.

My guess is you can assign any beneficiary for a life insurance policy you want.

I just realized I get June 19th off to celebrate General Granger's announcement in 1865 that Federal oppression would henceforth trample all over state's rights in Texas. :yeah:

Well, typically the beneficiary of insurance has to have insurable interest.  I know it hasn't been the case in life insurance, though, since there was a secondary market for life insurance contracts, but I thought that was clamped down on.

Because we are so loveable and interesting, of course.  :)

I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Right now as we prepare to transfer from GE to Alstom; so we had the meeting with Alstom HR to explain our benefits in our new company.  One of the peculiarities of the American healthcare system is that, since health insurance is typically provided through an employer, health insurance for spouses and dependents is also provided through the employer.  At GE you can get health insurance for your spouse or your same sex domestic partner.  If you're shacking up with a person of the opposite gender you cannot get health insurance for him or her.  Les grenouilles are more open minded about this, and Alstom allows both same sex and opposite sex domestic partners for health insurance purposes; however (and the HR person told us this) you can only insure a spouse or a domestic partner, not both.  So your side woman must still remain uninsured.  Obamacare has failed us once again.   :(
In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

I think it's fair. Side woman should also have a main man to provide insurance for her. You don't want to have someone insured twice.

I've had difficulties securing an illustrator for my project, due to creative differences between myself and the various artists I've been speaking with.

I believe many are leery of the subject matter because they know so little about it; more because I am an individual rather than a company, which they'd prefer for such a long-term production.

Finally, one seemed willing after an exchange of emails but talks broke down when she wouldn't recognize Stannis as the proper King of the Andals and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and Protector of the Realm. These are small details; I feel confident that a week should suffice to find someone capable of tying their fortunes to this project.
