  Yeah, it's a foreign country alright.  They wouldn't even think about doing that here.

Yeah, they are doing this because unpaid statutory severance triggers a personal liability for directors of the company.

Oh, I like that idea.

Now, you protect Otisburg from experimental street theatre, while also battling the evil plans of The Accountant!

Is this really a problem?

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

The Sony thing is easy to understand. In all my life I know of no one who's ever bought anything at Sony's. Even if I wanted a Sony, I'd go to Future Shop. It's like "Levi's" who shops at Levi's?

The Target thing? The Canadian love affair with all things American I think ended with Krispey Kreme. I think Target came in too aggressively, too fast, and never really caught on. Admittedly, I've never been in one either.

It's not a popularity problem. They overextended financially. Badly.

They couldn't choose. Canadian customers were expecting the legitimate american Target experience (and price!) but instead we got another discount store with an american logo. We already have those.

they also didn't offer American pricing which is what everyone expected so they lost a lot of good will right off the bat.

How do you two know the prices they offered were different than American prices?

you can check online. The issue isn't so much that pricing was different, Canadians always pay more, and we've been bitching for years. The issue was that there was the expectation of American pricing. Whether target cultivated that perception I don't know, but it sure ended up costing them.

I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny.
