In this case, IIRC, the most of the overdiagnosis is at the behest of the parents who want to drug their kinds up to make them more manageable or improve their performance in school and the 3.25 after-school activities they must participate in.  As opposed to, you know, actually parenting.  Another significant chunk is college students trying to get their stim fix.

I agree with the notion that doctors, particularly psychiatrists, jump to the script pad too fast.  It enables the actions I mentioned above.

Yeah if only we could go back to the heady days of the past where parents just sat home parenting.

I suppose psychs could send people along to therapists without prescribing any drugs but that doesn't sound like a sound business decision.

"First of all, a cow udder is soft and easy to pull, and not hard to get milk from. A pig's teats are hard and hidden, and the piglets really have to work to get at them.

Although pigs' milk is high in fat (around 8.5% compared to cows milk at 3.9%) and is an excellent source of nutrients, sows are very difficult to milk. They have around 14 teats compared to a cow's four, and they don't take very kindly to having them touched by humans. They also get very agitated if you try to restrain them. Pigs also have a limited milk ejection time of around 15 seconds, whereas a cow's can be up to 10 minutes. All in all, it's a pig-shed load of trouble to milk a porker.

If I'm reading him correctly, he's saying that sometimes what is within the normal range of young male behavior gets diagnosed as ADD.
