Naw, the Jewish Messiah is more like a perfect king - he doesn't personally punch out bad guys.

The Golem, on the other hand, has super-strength, and is specifically intended to punch out bad guys.  :D Of course, he was also a horrible monster, which doesn't fit so well ...  :hmm:

(The actual Biblical inspiration was, allegedly, Samson)
I thought the Messiah was supposed to be a conquering leader? :hmm:

Nah. He's supposed to unite the Jews and usher in an era of peace throughout the world. Details are fuzzy as to how this is supposed to happen, but according to some traditions it isn't by force - more by the power of his total awesomeness.

In short, he's more like a jumped-up Bob Marley than an Alexander the Great, or a Superman.

[Though this wasn't always the case - in the past, the messiah was *any* king who smote the enemies of the Hebrew nation. Cyrus the Great was considered a messiah by some ... ]

No. They're their own thing. All cutoffs, cupcakes and coffee.

I hated Watchmen. I'm still dreaming of Gilliam's version :(

What was wrong with Watchmen? It was like the comic pages set into motion.

That's what makes him special.  ;)

Exactly.  I want to see a good film, not a comic book set in motion.  It's the same problem with all adaptations.  What matters is making something worthwhile and lingering in whatever form you're operating in.  It's why fan boys shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the movies <_<

Appropriately the closest Snyder gets to lingering is a meme.

I approve of the Shelf school of filmmaking. I want to see a good goddamn movie, not an animated comic book. This is why I like Nolan's Batman movies more than I like the Avengers superhero flicks.

Not to say that all the Avengers movie are bad, just that I prefer the Nolanverse to fanboys spooging over themselves when they see Black Widow and Iron Man on the same screen.

This reminds me: God, Captain America was an awful movie.
Person. Woman. Man. Camera. TV.

Amen, bro.

And, as an amendment, I'd say Hollywood producers shouldn't be allowed anywhere near European films.

But do you agree with their comments or not?  :D

Nope! Pretty sure that's still California and not on the same level as the Bakersfield/Salton Sea/Fresno axis.

Actually on that front. Monrovia!!! :w00t:
