I can only imagine how bad The Teachers' Lounges are these days, now that there's no smoking in buildings.
Walking past it back in the day, smelled like a pool hall. And the occasional glimpse inside?  Pure fog.
Now, they drink.

Because you're too young to remember Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom

Whoa, loved that show as a kid.
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

 Languish!

With a soaring fever I went to class- It could not be ignored, for Japanese is a sacred injunction. As I left the crystal fortress, my eyes watered profusely; hardening particles and salty discharge made it painful to see, and so I closed my eyes, an enormous help. The benefits of my months of training allowed me to proceed to class without my vision, and once inside the pain of opening my eyes was greatly reduced.

Still, class was a sore trial. I will soon rest.
It can't be helped...We'll have to use 'that'

What's LUMP, Larch?

It's "l'U.M.P.", meaning Union for a Popular Movement, France's main right wing party, Sarkozy's one.

Razgovory

Some gangsters shot up a Chucky Cheese's last night.  This drive-by stuff is getting out of hand.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

I interpret it as a 'how they see each other' type thingy.

You're so European.

It's how the party on the left sees the party on the top.
