Looking out the window of my hotel room now. I see a bunch of old deserted buildings, one of which has the logo of the United Railways Telegraph School on it. Probably the only place in the western US you could see that.

Next to that is what used to be a hotel. You can still see "Rooms with bath, $20/month" painted on the brick. A block over is what looks like a former old-style department store with boarded up windows that has been gutted and stripped down to convert into a parking garage. $25 a night to park there. The substructures on top are built of tin roofing like some shacks in a Mumbai slum. Hanging over everything is an overall look of...decay.

Bleh. So sad.
