This morning found the right-side 1/3rd of my front licence plate bent outward. I wonder if this has anything to do with that guy whom I politely asked to let me park on my space (each flat has its own numbered space) yesterday evening when I got home and he was waiting in it in his car.

My thought is that someone tried to steal your plate but was discovered or decided it was too much work half way through.

I hope not. If they did the plan was to tear it down from the two screws holding it in place, by force. I'd imagine somebody with this intent would bring a screwdriver?

I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

I forget, was it the serbs or the croats that were the big Nazi supporters?
Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".

I have this memory of the Croat soldiers giving fascist salutes during the 1995 battles in Bosnia, and can easily find pictures of them doing that online right now. I am not sure what exactly that was supposed to indicate at the time.

Except for the pro-Nazi Croats.

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

Very messy wartime there, could make quite a Sorrow and the Pity sequel there.
A SS muslim division, Handschar. According to Pavelic, Muslims were Croats of muslim creed...
Mihajlovic's Chetniks, Serbian royalist partisans first anti-axis then who end up fighting Communist partisans for the Axis, thanks to Italian intelligence services. At least, some Chetniks, this is still controversial.
