The US isn't even the most obese anymore. The Aussies and the Brits are fatter than us now.

Actually, I think Mexico is the fattest country.

Ever see a skinny Mexican?  Exactly.

I saw one at the grocery store today.

She was wearing yoga pants.

I wished I had a green card to give out.

Almost handed her my Bi-Mart card.

Because that appears to be a much more regional thing than I thought:

Yeah, they look pretty good when they're young, but they really start to put on the pounds around 14 years old.

Shit, I am from Washington, and I've never heard of it.  But I see it is mostly Oregon and only very rural/eastern WA.

I stumbled across MTV classic and boy, did the kids have questions for me.

On the Grim Reaper 'See you in Hell' video, they wanted to know why the lead singer was so fat and why most of them had bad teeth. I explained it was because they were British. They just nodded their heads like they knew.

On some old Saxon video, one of them asked why they were dressed like a pest control guy. I shrugged.

When I explained this was some of the music from when I was a kid, Katerina said she felt sorry for me.

There used to be this Mexican family (could have been Central American) across the way here.  Mom spit out three kids and still had an ass like a ballerina.  Exception that proves the rule.

My 13-year old niece and her friends seem to be completely fascinated by 80s music at the moment, but it seems to strike me like the way southeast Asians are completely fascinated by the Third Reich--kinda off the mark, and sublimely disconcerting.

Peter Gabriel's Shock the Monkey video will cure them of that habit.

It could be obesity as mentioned, or perhaps religious upbringing. It would be interesting to see the state or even better, county distribution within the US.

"Europe" also seems a somewhat broad term when conducting statistical analysis. :hmm:

All in all, sounds like pseudoscience to me.

There's really no explaining anything between Devo's "Whip It" and RHCP's "Give It Away" videos.

I'd be turning the channel.
