Oh FFS. This gate stuff is getting out of control.

Blame the DNC for not picking a different hotel.

Does anyone know a source that would tell me that total amount of property owned by mobsters that was nationalized by Castro?

I found this source (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3369434/Give-empire-built-blood-money-Notorious-Mafia-figure-s-family-tell-fight-Havana-hotel-casino-Castro-s-clutches-Obama-s-end-embargo.html) that says Meyer Lanksy's family is claiming 7 million dollars, and this article (https://www.bostonglobe.com/ideas/2014/04/18/cuba-you-owe-billion/jHAufRfQJ9Bx24TuzQyBNO/story.html) which lists the top 50 claimants.  But I haven't found anything that shows mob property as a percentage of the total.

The context is we were discussing my parents' upcoming trip to Cuba at lunch, I mentioned nationalization, he counted countered it was "mostly mob money," (later amended to "a lot") and I recalled Raz said something similar a while back.  So I'm looking to debunk.

$7 million from Lanksy out of $7 billion total is a start, but I'd like something comprehensive.

Fun fact from the Boston Globe article: 3/4 of arable land in Cuba was "controlled" (their word) by Americans at the time it was nationalized.

I've seen the exact same historical document about Mob investment in Cuba as you, so no clue.

MadImmortalMan

It's rather difficult to believe that of all the nationalized stuff, more than 50% of it was mob stuff.

I mean I guess it's possible, but I'd be very very surprised.
