The obsession with Davout, the home in France and recent horse meat scandal at Aldis, it's all coming together.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Whoa.  Amazon has a new streaming music service for Prime members.  I....haven't found the limit for songs added to my playlist yet (I'm at 120 and counting) and they all have a download option.   Is there a catch to this somewhere?  Or is this really all covered for $100 a year along with the 2 day free shipping that I use all the time?

E:  And there's some streaming TV thing my wife uses.

Some people work in countries where they don't have free speech.

Gotta say, some of you people have really bizarre Facebook friends. Like, one American poster's Facebook profile seems to be frequented mainly by Russophile lettows. Jesus.

I worked at a company back around 1999 whose cafeteria service did the same thing.  In our case the cafeteria manager was an unfortunately naive foreigner who had simply asked around as to what "traditional black foods" were.  Wish I still had that email.  It was priceless.

Obviously you're not talking about me, but my Facebook friends run the gamut of aging hippies & fierce lefties to religious fundies & preppers.  I get all kinds of weird stuff in my feed.  I generally try to keep my posts apolitical.

Yeah, my facebook friends are all basically family members, old university buddies, and languishites.  And all the really bizarre posts come from the languishites.  Without them I'd never know the latest transgendered news from Vancouver, or the latest on Hattiesberg politics.
Posts here are my own private opinions.  I do not speak for my employer.

Sounds like an audition for some really cheesy interracial gay porn.  :P

The base XO sent out an all hands email on friday. Everybody got this, all military and civilian.

The email informed us:

The galley would have an authentic style southern meal between 1100-1400 of fried chicken and bbq ribs in celebration of Martin Luther King day.
