A job where I can maybe associate with people  beats the shit out a job that would probably involve long periods of solitude

I beg to differ.

OK.  But I'd like to fuck again at some point in my life.

The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

Moving into one's house?

That was in reply to Mr. Anger.  Oopsie. -_-

Oh, also, I get to interview at a book store.  Like, intellectually I know it's pretty shitty (not to mention so very cliche), but emotionally it feels pretty good.  Told me to bring my SS card (Social Security, not Schutzstaffel--it'd be pretty embarrassing if I brought that instead).  So I guess it's pretty solid, maybe.

I really, really did not want to count inventory.  A job that involves almost no real work where I can maybe associate with people (perhaps liberal arts-loser girls with cool haircuts, who won't judge me as they're at least as stupid and unemployable as I am) beats the shit out a job that, despite the chimpanzee-level difficulty of the actual work, still requires focus and which would probably involve long periods of solitude, if the pay's equal, which it likely is.

I like doing the occasional work in my friend's book store. Watching the porn hounds is hilarious.

And another nice daily chart from The Economist:

I had 30 days of vacation, about 20 to compensate for overtime and the national holidays, so that should be about 55-60 days. :frog:

Pretty much everyone in Austria has 25 days. I can take 4 compensation days per year for overtime, but I don't consider them "extra", as I've pre-worked the hours already.

I also guess that the "public holidays" includes those that might fall on a weekend?

Let's see, Austria has:
Epiphany
Easter Monday (NOT Good Friday - they consider that a protestant holiday  )
Corpus Christi
May 1st
Ascension Day
National Holiday (26th October)
Christmas 25th/26th
New Year's
Assumption (15th October)
Feast of Immaculate Conception (8th December, though it's more like a Saturday, because all stores are open)
All Saints
Whit Monday

Every country other than the US has a statutory minimum for days off, apart from public holidays?  Interesting.  I wonder if any US states do.

Pretty much. Long story short: I dated a coworker, we broke up, she snapped and accused a bunch of people (not me thankfully but I got real paranoid), recanted and left.

To answer my own query, it looks like no states do.  According to Wikipedia, Puerto Rico has a 15 day minimum, and "members of the US Armed Services" (not sure who that exactly encompasses) have a 30 day minimum, apart from public holidays.

:console:  Join the 20th Century.  Leon Blum's lonely.

I'm always angry at how few national holidays we have.  The Royals have finally started pulling their weight this year and next, but even so <_<

Canada sucks. I thought we were better than the States. I don't understand the chart, because theoretically USA should be last cause they have no mandated stat hols. I'm sure that "typically" Canadians who've worked 10 years do better than that charts shows.
