I went to this pub on a recent trip :

Nice place for a chat, has well-kept Badger ales too

Not sure if it is not one Brazen took me to one time. The Badger ales definitely sound familiar.  :hmm:

I'm staying at the Strand Palace after all, eldest daughter of my in-laws has moved back in temporarily so the spare room has gone  :(

However, I do love the location of the hotel, so it'll probably be better (apart from the cost).

How much are you paying per night? The website I use asked 170 quid per night from me, which I gotta say is not cheap.  :XD:

What makes an ale "well kept?"

I'll post a link for that :

Essentially the beer in the cask is unpasteurised and still alive, this makes it very tasty, but if it is not looked after carefully it will taste horrible. The success rate back in the 1970s was so low that many people switched to lager and keg bitter; since then standards of cellar-keeping have risen, they are especially high in London imo and it is now rare to get a badly-kept beer.

£452 for three nights...................can't say that I'm too thrilled about that, but the cheaper places were either not much cheaper or horrible. I've noticed that the summer "high" season in London seems to be getting more extended and has got to the beginning of June now  :(

I have no idea what I am paying for any of this trip, and I don't want to know.

A wise decision.

When would you like to meet on the Thursday Lusti? 3pm gives me to time to get to London and get settled, we could meet in the foyer of the Strand Palace and build up some appetite with a minor death march before dinner

I will probably leave you guys for a short spell around lunchtime on Friday to meet a client for lunch. On a plus side, this probably would let me to get my firm to pay for at least part of this trip. :shifty:

Will have to look out for that. Don't think I've ever seen Badger on draft in London. A drop of Blanford Fly always goes down a treat on a hot day.

I should be around on 4th after work if you let me know where you'll be. Farringdon/Spitalfields/Shoreditch would be most convenient for me (as well as being quite fun areas to go for drinks).

Sounds great. We have no plans on Thursday and Friday we were
Planning to do the tourist thing, like change of guards
Maybe London eye or Tower of London, whatever
You guys want. We will plan accordingly.
