God I suck.  Illionois left the Union to form a reactionary state in the midst of of a communist rebellion.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. Wow, that militant Socialist uprising was huge! Can you tell why they got so angry and rose up? I wonder if you needed to do something more/different in your reforms that may have avoided it?

I have to admit massive reactionary and communist revolutions breaking out in the US is not what I expected to see in this.  But good on you for making an AAR with a rather mixed record of success. :thumbsup:

I don't know exactly.  If I did, I'd be better off!  I do have high war exhaustion, but the constant rebellions don't really help that.  Part of it is my immigration reforms and decisions, which increase militancy, part of it is those fucking Klan events, and some times I have no idea what the hell is happening.  I have millions of people angry they don't have a 10 hour work day, so I enact that reform and then I get a socialist rebellion.  Honestly I thought this would be easier.

The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

I think they wrote the game with a dialectic sort of idea so that it will be inevitable that you'll wind up with ahistorical proletariat revolutions in just about every game.

America part 8: Jason takes Manhatten

I sink further and further into failure on this one.  I try to keep my country at peace do decrease war exhaustion but that does no good since the constant rebellions up the war exhaustion.  I also forgot to turn on FRAPS for a short period so there are no images of that part of American history.

Eddie Teach was curious how Germany was doing so I got some screen shots of Europe.



I believe last time I was being overthrown by Socialists.  Well, the Socialists won.  They are polite revolutionaries and don't actually overthrow the government.  It's still a democracy and the socialists leave after being voted out.  So whatever.



They don't even force me to stop my war.  The British on the other hand are taken over by Reactionaries and now have an absolutist government.  Which is a bit absurd since the queen is not that interested in politics.



Goddamn it!



I run out of things to research until 1900.  No more science for you!



Okay this part bears some explaining, I started up the game but forgot to start FRAPs so when I thought I was taking pictures I was not.  During this time I have a major communist revolt, and some Mexican patriots and three countries formed out of my country.  New England, Dakota and the New American Allegiance (which looks like they have the flag of Missouri).



Also I think WWIV broke out, and now there is a Soviet Union.  Austria is communist at the moment, but won't stay that way.



They really have a lot of balls to ask this of me.  I'm going to try to be peaceful for a while to get my war exhaustion down.



Goddamn libertarians!



This is my Pop militancy modifiers.  The higher the militancy the more likely I'll see a revolt.  I don't understand it.



This late in the game I get all sorts of weird messages.



Finally some good news, though it is a bit late. 



I don't know why this keeps happening to me.  For now I just let them seize government and go on my way.



And so the Socialists overthrow the government once again only to keep democracy so they'll be voted out in four years.



At least we invent Rag-time music!



Here's the US at end of the session.  War exhaustion is higher then it was before I tried my peace strategy.  I'm just going to conquer New England next time and kill Bill Belichick and wound Timmy.



I may shift away from my conquer latin American strategy and just see if I can destroy Germany.

Raz, this mod is more economically complex than the base game. Should I let earlier versions of factories go bankrupt and destroy them?

Raz you can't rely on the average MIL rating to figure out what is going on.  You have to look at the specific POP groups that are giving you trouble, and monitor the revolters tab.  For example, if you have groups of chronically unemployed craftsmen, they are an obvious risk of revolt.  If you have lots of bad WE that could be a problem too.  Can't tell what is going on w/o looking deeper.

FWIW I am currently at 1912 in a Russia game and most of the governments are normal - HM monarchies, some PCs, some democracies, some absolutists still left too.  The exceptions are Germany which went fascist after losing a Great War and Brazil which went communist after a bankruptcy.

I have lots of unemployed farmers and laborers, though I have no idea how to get them to work.  Often it shows that I have nobody working at the RGOs.  My tactics is mostly to find the areas that have high revolt risk and use the the "order" focus on them.  I'm also reforming my military.  I intend to destroy Germany, and as such am allying with France.
