Quote from: The Brain on February 13, 2023, 02:23:55 PMThe White Lotus, S1-S2. Guests and staff at a luxury hotel encounter drama and worse. I think it's great, I was very entertained. NB I don't know if it has been accused of homophobia. My impression is that it isn't homophobic, but a case could certainly be made that it is.

How so? Cause of the queens on the boat?

Homosexual bosses , a whole coterie of homosexuals ...

My gay friends absolutely love the show so no, you're way off base, man  :lmfao:

I admit I am liking Andor. It seemd a slow start and gave up for a long period to watch Christmas stuff and then... sigh... Wednesday... but it is pretty good. Two episodes left.

I don't hate Wednesday, it had some good moments.  It just is formulaic.

PDH!

I don't think so because it's too camp, has Jennifer Coolidge and, in any event, gays love a queer-coded villain especially if they are explicitly queer

Yeah, as far as I know, gays love it.

These gays.

Check out the Star Wars thread where we discussed Andor at some length.  We Languishites rarely agree on anything, but admiration for this show was one of those rare unanimous events.

CC and others thanks for the recommendation, I shall give it a spin as I have disney.

So you guys are guarentting I'll like it?

I say that as someone who never 'got' star wars probably only  watch 1 1/2 of theoriginal films once, just thought of it as somewhat like cowboys and indians in space.

I think you will like it.  :)

It might even be better if you know nothing about Star Wars.

Andor is the least 'Star Warsy' Star Wars property.

Forget Star Wars exists: Andor is a great television show.

I was not aware of them doing a 4th season. I'll have to keep my eyes open for it.

Oh wow, season 1 was 8 years ago. McCounaghey's career has resurrected and died once again in the interim. Sic transit gloria mundi.

He did not really pick any great roles afterwards, at least as far as I can remember.

Cunk on Earth is fine for History Channel dads but why did they cast such a moron to host?

The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

Didn't imagine there was a film or series (not sure) in Tetris - but this looks terrific
