One hears a lot of how any peace deal with Russia would be them just taking 5 minutes to regroup before attacking again.
I do think where Russia and Ukraine are now though, that Ukraine would be far better placed to take advantage of any temporary pause.

Russia has got itself into such a state that suddenly stopping the fighting and bringing its troops home would be a disaster.

Key of course will be sanctions. If El Naranja Stupido totally drops them as part of this it would help Russia a bit.

Yeah, Trump's 50 days, from what I've read, basically did align with the window for Russian offensives so there might be a sense of needing to basically grab what they can now. So this could indicate that Russia is willing to come to the table and agree something - although they still don't control all the oblasts they claim are part of Russia.

I'm still not sure that Russia/Putin wants to do a deal. I think their view is that they can keep on going and will win more through war.
