In my line of work i design all kinds of automated/ semiautomated workflows.  Lately the direction from the top has been to innovate with AI etc and it has all the managers beating the AI drum.  I've used it to debug queries and what not and that's a big game changer in that regard but I haven't seen much meaningful work done by it yet.  Most managers probably think simple coding is AI.

At the moment AI is mostly a talking point but don't underestimate its future potential.  I've seen talks by experts describing how we are seeing its birth right now and it's become a toddler.  Very soon it's expansion will be exponential.

I also deal with a lot of consultants.  My 2cents is that When they are hired for a clear purpose and overseen by someone who knows what's going on they are creating value, but often it's the case they implement excessively complicated things that I have to spend time streamlining later.  I imagine it's the same anywhere, if their direction is poor it becomes a money burning machine.

I do not underestimate the future, like any technology.

However, to say you can replace many humans at any level in the next 4 years with AI is still far beyond what AI can do.
I can't code alone, humans are needed to debug.
It can't interpret data, humans are needed for that.
It can't make decisions, humans are needed for that.

I see it as very useful to do the ground work though.

And I'm on the same opinion on consultants.

Yes well what I've been hearing is that we're all going to have AI coworkers more and more as time goes on.  Sure they can't completely replace humans but can generate efficiencies.

Agree though right now it's mostly hot air execs like to talk about.

It's pretty clear the sort of thing being discussed is not yet here, and further that people who are relying on the current technology are making all manner of mistakes.

Whether it will ever be what its proponents claim is to be seen.  But it seems there is at least one major technological leap needed.

In several surveys, the overwhelming first choice for what makes Canada unique is multiculturalism. This, in a world collapsing into stupid, impoverishing hatreds, is the distinctly Canadian national project.

So only a 68 per chance of a Liberal majority today. Odds keep dropping. PP probably wishes the election wasn't for another week at least.

Yeah, assuming Trump could stop calling Canada the 51st state.

The Bloc seems to have regained momemtum in Quebec, gaining a few possible MPs, enough to eat at the Liberal advance.  Average seat projection for the Cons seems stable.

Carney did look bad on the 51st State business with Trump.  He was caught in a lie there.

I suppose releasing their financial plan filled with nothingness after the Libs helped the Libs.  People pay more attention to propaganda than hard numbers.  Something will have to be done in the future about having these documents before the debates.

I dunno - based on all the intra-conservative backbiting I'm not hopeful.
Posts here are my own private opinions.  I do not speak for my employer.

What are the contours of the backbiting? Who's attacking whom?

Ford and Houston, who are both Progressive Conservative premiers. Both of them, allegedly, are interested in Poilievre's job. More importantly , they would rather work with a Carney government than a Poilievre one because trade is, you know, kinda important. In the meantime they are giving no help to the campaign, and Ford's team is leaking to the media. Sources say.

Yes, and they don't want to be associated with the Trumpist rhetoric PP has used.

Plus Ford's campaign manager has been very critical of PP's approach to this election.

It's also personal. PP's campaign manager, Jenni Byrne, who used to work for Harper, was Ford's chief of staff early on. She got forced out. She also used to be Poilievre's long term girlfriend.

There is no love coming out of Queen's Park. The Ontario PC's are really good at playing dirty. With the help of CTV news, they took out their old leader Patrick Brown through a sexual assault smear campaign. He was never charged and he later won his defamation case, but he had to settle for being Mayor of Brampton instead of Premier.

Pierre Poutine, whoever the hell he was, would be proud. :-0

Is that why it asked to see if I was human this morning?
