I don't think there was any thought to it other than he wants to be the center of attention.

But given how Carney's entire campaign has been to "resist Trump" (without any meaningful discussion about how you do that) Trump's tweet (or whatever you call it) is nothing but an in-kind donation to the Carney campaign, whether Trump realizes it or not.

So I'm expecting a Liberal win.  The polls consistently have a narrow Liberal majority.  The Conservative vote is historically somewhat inefficient (as in - they rack up huge totals in Alberta and Sask ridings).

The couple of things to watch for though:

-NDP vote.  It's no co-incidence that Harper's majority coincided with Layton's success.  A strong NDP vote bodes well for the Conservatives.  Of course - Singh is no Layton.

-persistent polling error.  Certainly possible.  Call it "shy Tories".  It's not something I'm expecting though.  But it sometimes happens.

I don't think realizes anything.
If he did, he wouldn't be so bad.  He would be about on par with GW Bush bad.

With Trump it is always about Trump. Canadian conservatives can go get fucked.

Or really everybody who isn't Trump can go get fucked.

He is a very incompetent, malevolent, and corrupt version of Bill Clinton.

If he happens to help Canadian Conservatives or Liberals at any particular time, it is entirely coincidental. The only reason he had been quiet on Canada is because he was distracted with other things. Canada's election was in the news today, so he was going to say something.

Poilievre rushed to safety after actual journalist question makes it past security

From the Beaverton, posted 3 days ago, but I thought it was among their funniest so far, give his freak control of the media and his non answers.  :D

QuoteCALGARY – During an outdoor campaign rally security rushed a shaken Pierre Poilievre to safety after he was tragically struck by a lone journalist's question.

"Mr. Poilievre was unharmed by the question, but remains badly shaken up," explained Mike Lattimmer, of Poilievre's private security detail. "Our guards had swept the area for any lone wolf reporters who might try to confront Mr. Poilievre with a substantive question, but one appears to have escaped from the media crate."

Eyewitnesses report that Poilievre was in the middle of his twenty-fourth mention of the "lost Liberal decade" when the rogue question managed to break through his security detail. Security immediately shielded him from any further journalistic danger, though Poilievre himself was filmed raising his fist in a gesture to his supporters and yelling "FIGHT!"
Poilievre then added "...any journalists who ask me questions that haven't been carefully pre-scripted and rehearsed!"
Reporters on the scene had difficulty capturing the attack itself, given that they had been locked inside holding pen in the rally's overflow parking lot one kilometre away.

A TikTok video from the scene depicts the incident, with the question coming from an as-of-yet unidentified senior Canadian journalist, who remains at large. The reporter's query can clearly be heard as "Sir, can you define what 'woke' means beyond just vague fear-mongering?"

As soon as the direct question is asked, Mr. Poilievre can be seen falling to the stage, clutching his ear in agony.
With only four days left in the federal election campaign, conservative campaign insiders have denounced any media figures armed with "radically unfair questions meant to force Pierre to reveal his true intentions for Canada."
"Just imagine if that maniac journalist had violently attacked Mr. Poilievre with a question about how his housing plan is really just a giveaway to private housing corporations," exclaimed chief campaign advisor Jenni Byrne. "The entire Left, and specifically Carbon Tax Carney, have blood on their hands, in a wholly metaphorical sense."

"This kind of despicable affront never would have happened if we were granted all of the journalist spots on the campaign," noted Ezra Levant of Rebel Media. "We would only ask decent questions, like 'Is it true that Justin Trudeau is the antichrist' and 'Mr. Poilievre, how did you get so handsome?'"

Within hours Conservative candidates were seen wearing large bandages on their ears, not out of solidarity for Poilievre, but to protect themselves from hearing any journalists' questions.

Meanwhile, after being rushed to hospital emergency room doctors reported that Pierre Poilievre's condition was entirely stable, despite his ego suffering a dangerous level of bruising.

Anyhow, I voted this morning. Took me maybe five minutes.

Yeah, I didn't see this as a Vote PP thing at all.

But if the Languishites thought that, then I can imagine lots of Canadians did too. Question is how many Canadians read Truth.

You don't have to read Truth Social.  I've never in my life checked it out.

Yet I was fully aware of Trump's post on that platform.

You don't need to get on Truth Social to read Trump's shit. The media dutifully broadcasts it to the world shortly thereafter.

Fuck I miss having a President who was never on Social Media.
