Quote from: crazy canuck on January 22, 2025, 05:23:20 PMThe bump from removing Trudeau is starting already.

It's just a baby bump though.

Yes, I don't expect anybody to change their minds until they see who the next leader is.  If it's Freeland, I don't think there's going to be much of a change in voter support.  She is easily tied to Trudeau.

Like garbon said it's a bunch of cheap shitty made stuff (even by Chinese standards). That's if you even get what you thought you ordered.

That's also what Amazon can be nowadays too.

Yeah, Amazon marketplace does suck too. But at least they have a mix. Temu, from what I know, is all shit.
Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".

Yeah on Amazon you can avoid a lot of issues if you look at who is the seller, with Temu you will always suffer.

What sorts of things do you people buy on these sites?  I pretty much only buy books or DVDs off of Amazon, and I've never had any problems with quality.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

My most recent orders off Amazon were :

A Cat fur brush
Essential Oil Roller Bottles
60 Mega Nerf Darts with a Clip
A fabric rake
A 10 pack of Metallic drawing pen
A Watch
A Window cleaner vacuum
A 200 pack of latex gloves.

None of these items were sold by Amazon.

Sounds like Doug Ford is going to call an early election.

Probably (my guess) before any US tariffs start to really bite.

More likely he is calling it now because he can win now.

And he's less likely to win in a year - because of US tariffs.

It's the same thing Trudeau did in 2021.

Trudeau was not defeated in a confidence vote.  The previous election had been in 2019.  But we were a year into Covid.  You could kind of tell the Liberals weren't going to be gaining more popularity as time went by, but they still had some "rally around the flag" support because of the pandemic, so might as well do a re-set and get a fresh mandate.

You are assuming there will be tariffs.

You are also not considering the fact that Ford would not be calling this election if the polls were not saying he can win if he calls it now. It has nothing to do with what might happen in the future.  Everyone of every political strip calls an election if they think a victory is in the bag.

Grey Fox

I've heard rumors of Ford calling early elections for 8 months now. There's always a reason and yet it doesn't happen.

I think his polling numbers have been rising for about the last 3-4 months, and now its time to pull the trigger.

Harper actually did the same thing in 2008.

Two years into his first mandate.  Minority Parliament.  Conservative poll numbers were up, but not by that much.  But importantly - the global financial crises was starting.  Conservatives held an election to try and get a fresh mandate before things got bad.

Conservatives did not win a majority, Dion and the opposition parties tried to form a coalition, that didn't work - you know the story.  But holding an early election in advance of a big negative world event is definitely something that happens.

That and Poillevere. Interestingly, Ontario and the Feds have always had opposite leaders win elections. So if a Conservative is running Ottawa, statistics show Ontario would go Liberal or NDP (once).
