I think it's just that you live in a different professional world.

Most people hate interacting with technology, rather than dealing with someone in person. That may change as the tech native Zoomers get older. But until that day, it's a bit of a fantasy to suggest that we are now living in a world where employers need to justify working in the office. That is not true for the vast majority of the economy.

Throughout the WFH pandemic reaction & still up to today; my managers haven't taken advantage of any of the teams functions of Microsoft teams. Most of us like wfh but it also means we have almost no interaction with each other when we do.

Personally, I prefer in person talks then chats & I really dislikes anything that is a kin to a phone call.
Colonel Caliga is Awesome.

Microsoft teams is awful. I've had much better experiences in companies that use slack- even when in office it tends to be far more lively.
I don't know whether its just something about certain cultural traits and casualness being more likely to mean a firm goes for slack but it does seem to me to be a much better designed system.

Also confluence. Fuck confluence. My current place actively blocks google docs so I can't even dodge it <_<

Corporate bestowed Teams on us. The company makes weapons & is consistently hacked by China, NK & Russia. We don't have a lot say in those kind of software.

Don't know why they don't trust Salesforce.

My direct team members have to come to office for two days a week again, but as we work in cross-functional teams that are not co-located, most meetings are hybrid anyway. But we have recently onboarded new colleagues which I feel is much easier when you meet occasionally.

Today in insane Guardian headlines
QuoteBritain's surging deer population is causing an ecological disaster. I have a solution: wolves
George Monbiot

Humans have failed to keep numbers down. Reintroduce these predators, and let them get on with the job

My solution is that it's our duty to eat game. Although I'm going to work out how to introduce "I have a solution: wolves" into my work emails.

Yeah I saw that and I wa like that tracks for Monbiot.
"I've never been quite sure what the point of a eunuch is, if truth be told. It seems to me they're only men with the useful bits cut off."
I drank because I wanted to drown my sorrows, but now the damned things have learned to swim.

 yeah saw that. Hmmm, introduce hunting quotas like every other European countries were incidentally this isn't a problem? Or: re-populate the island with wolves!

Josquius

Wolves would also help tackle our problem with rural poverty.  :bowler:

It is worth saying we don't have hunting quotas but the highland deer population is stable and well-managed, it's the lowlands where things have got a little out of control.

My understanding is it's one of the weirder side-effects of covid

I think given that Monbiot is very against highland pasture land and wants lots of re-wilding, he's possibly keen on the potential collateral damage to flocks of sheep (which is why wolves were hunted to extinction). He's very pro-countryside, but not the countryside as it actually is.

Edit: And we should all just order something from Deer Box  It also obviously doesn't have the issues other meats do around carbon, organic, animal cruelty etc.

Deer Box is a little bit pricey, but it is hard to put a price on the smug self-satisfaction that comes from ordering a box

The meat is very tasty and much healthier than other meats, I encourage the non-broke to try a box

 Ironically, also a key selling point for the Guardian.
